Ms. Jiang Yan Suffers Mental Breakdown from Torture at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp

Feb. 22, 2003

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms Jiang Yan, 27 years old, is a resident of Pingshan District, Benxi City, Liaoning Province. In 2001 she was kidnapped and illegally detained at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, where she suffered such inhumane mental torture that she suffered a mental breakdown. In the summer of 2001, she was sent home for treatment under surveillance. Other Falun Gong practitioners, such as Qi Zhenrong, from Benxi City, also suffered breakdowns after being persecuted in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. The evil police in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp have committed felonies that will certainly receive just retribution under both heavenly and human laws.

Jiang Yan's whole family started to practice Falun Gong after she and her father, former head of the Falun Gong Assistant Center of Beixi City, attended Teacher's Lecture series in Haerbin City, Heilongjiang Province. They followed the principles of Truth, Compassion, and Forbearance to become good people, enjoyed a happy and harmonious family life, and Yan was cheerful, lively, and full of vigor and vitality. The happy family was cruelly broken up with the start of the Jiang regime's persecution. Her father was forced into a gloomy cell because he upheld his faith in Falun Gong, and still suffers inhumane torture in Dabei prison. Jiang Yan was also detained several times in labor camps and later kidnapped to the Beixi Detention Center.

The harmful environment and filthy language in the detention center, as well as police's frequent beating of practitioners, mentally scarred this cheerful, pure, and innocent young girl. Already deeply hurt by her father's illegal detention, her suffering reached the extreme when faced with this violence and brutality. Still, the corrupt police insisted on sending her to the notorious Masanjia Forced Labor Camp for further persecution.

We can only imagine the mistreatment this already mentally burdened girl suffered there. A combination of sleep deprivation, psychological torture, and physical punishment eventually resulted in her mental collapse. She exhibited language abnormalities and odd behavior. To hide their misconduct, the police in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp claimed that it was practicing Falun Gong that made her this way, and sent her home for treatment under surveillance.

The corrupt officials of Benxi City use her case to spread lies. They distort the truth and won't mention her being tortured in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, deceiving some people. To reveal the truth, we ask: "Didn't the persecution break up this young girl's family? Doesn't the persecution put kind people in labor camps for physical and mental torture? Doesn't the persecution deprive persons of their freedom? Jiang Yan started practicing Falun Gong in 1994. Between this time and the persecution, she was physically and mentally healthy. Why did she have a breakdown after being detained in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp for just several months?" As to who is right and who is wrong, what is the truth and what are lies, her family members, neighbors, and fellow practitioners can all testify. Yan's mental illness was certainly a direct result of cruel persecution, and can be considered concrete proof of the Jiang regime's inhumane persecution, and the illegal actions of corrupt police in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp against Falun Gong practitioners!

On the door of Jiang Yan's home, a brief message states, "Living in this home are all good people". Although we may never know the details of her suffering in the labor camp, these words poignantly express the longing of a Chinese girl, persecuted to the point of mental collapse, for joy and goodness. Considering these words, how are we to understand the nature of those who committed unspeakable crimes against her?

The purpose of this article is to expose the persecution, to allow people deceived by the lies to learn the truth, to reveal the evil deeds of the police in Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, and to bring those criminals to justice.
