Facts about the Rampant Abuse of Dafa Practitioners in the Beijing Female Labor Camp

Feb. 4, 2003

(Clearwisdom.net) In the Beijing Female Labor Camp, Dafa practitioners have been persecuted by the guards for no reason. Some are only allowed to sleep for a few hours per day. They have to get up around 5 a.m. and are not allowed to sleep until 2 a.m. the next morning. They are forced to stay awake the whole night once a while. Some Dafa practitioners were not allowed to have enough food, given only one small piece of steamed corn bread at each meal. They were sometimes forced to skip meals. Each practitioner was monitored by four or five prisoners in turn. Practitioners were not allowed to see or talk to each other. They were not allowed to put on or take off clothing to adjust to changing temperatures.

Dafa practitioners who went on hunger strikes at the labor camp were prevented by their guards from sleeping or using the restroom. They were forced to perform exhausting "training." They had to squat or "fly" (bent over with both arms pointing up behind the back), sometimes keeping the pose for the whole day. They were not allowed to stand up. If they could not hold the pose, they would be beaten. Some Dafa practitioners could not get up after being beaten. The guards would pull the practitioners' hair to force them to stand up; if they could not get the practitioners up, they pinched the practitioners' inner thighs to the point that practitioners' legs were black and blue all over. Practitioners were even not allowed to scream from the pain. When they screamed, their mouths would be stuffed with dirty socks.

In order to force the practitioners to renounce Dafa, the guards used drug addicts or collaborators [former Falun Gong practitioners who have gone astray due to brainwashing and torture] to beat practitioners. Sometimes it meant receiving dozens of continuous slaps in the face, causing severe swelling. Also, they would have many people to surround the practitioners, yelling and cursing. In the winter, Dafa practitioners were not allowed to wear warm clothes. They were forced to stand in the chilly wind for the entire night. When they fell asleep, cold water was poured down the back of their necks. The guards also used electrical batons to shock practitioners' eyelids, philtrum, neck, cheek, wrist and the center of the sole. The practitioners' skin was burned. They used all these torture methods, trying to force Dafa practitioners to give up Dafa.

Dafa practitioner Du shouted, "Falun Dafa is good" at the flag-raising ceremony in the labor camp. Four male policemen pushed her down to the ground, shocked her using the electrical baton, and then dragged her to the administration section of the labor camp. They tortured her from 8 a.m. until after dark, at which time she was already unconscious. She was then dragged into a solitary cell. Ms. Du was badly hurt and had black bruises all over her body from the electric shocks. She didn't wake up until two days later, and was unable to walk until a week later.

In the Beijing Female Labor Camp, the torture drove some practitioners to an unstable mental state. The police would then let their families take them back. Some practitioners lost teeth due to brutal beatings. Some had their arms broken by beatings and became disabled. Some police used plastic shoe soles to beat Dafa practitioners' faces and mouths, leaving shoe marks all over their faces. They did everything in their power to torture Dafa practitioners and try to break their wills. Practitioners were forced to read or watch materials that slandered Dafa or cursed Master. They were required to write articles after reading the slanderous materials. If they refused, they were said to have a bad attitude, and thus not allowed to sleep or eat. Practitioners were not allowed to make sounds or shout out when being tortured. If they shouted out, they would have their mouths stuffed with a rag or socks. Also, their hands and feet were bound, their ears squeezed by pincers, and more. When visitors or inspectors came to visit, the guards would send Dafa practitioners to a remote place to pull weeds to cover up evidence of their brutality.

We appeal to the international community to pay attention to this situation, stop the criminal acts of Jiang's regime and work toward the release of all imprisoned and persecuted Dafa practitioners.
