(Clearwisdom.net) Dafa practitioner Liu Qingjiu, male, 44 years old, was from Hongyue Village, Handian Township, Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province.

In June 2000, Liu Qingjiu went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. He was illegally arrested at Tiananmen Square, and was later escorted back to Shuangcheng City. He was detained for 20 days at the No. 2 Detention Center of Shuangcheng City, during which time he was brutally tortured. On December 23, 2000, Liu Qingjiu once again went to Beijing to appeal and was again arrested at Tiananmen Square. Because he refused to give the police his name and address, he was sent to the police department of Jinzhou City and detained there for 18 days before he was transferred to Shenyang City Detention Center. Later, the police found out his name and address and transferred him back to the No. 2 Detention Center in Shuangcheng City, where he was detained for more than 7 months. He was later bailed out for medical treatment when he became extremely weak due to long-term persecution in the detention center. He passed away on January 17, 2003.
