Six Provinces in China Hit by Severe Rainstorms and Flooding

The Central News Agency from Taipei reported on May 18, 2003: With the SARS epidemic still spreading in China, rainstorms and flooding are again endangering the country. According to the report from the National Flood Prevention Center, six provinces including Hunan, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Guangxi and Guizhou, have been hit by rainstorms and floods one after another.
In Hunan Province, severe flooding occurred in the Xiangjiang drainage area. The water level has risen beyond the alert level, and the situation is reaching critical levels.
