(Clearwisdom.net May 29, 2003) On Monday May 26 2003, Falun Gong practitioners from the UK participated in the Oxford Lord Mayor's parade and the local festival that accompanied it. The weather was clear and the sun was bright and hot. Practitioners wore beautiful and colorful costumes for the parade through Oxford, handing out leaflets and introducing Falun Gong to the local people.
After the parade, practitioners participated in a local festival. They demonstrated the five Falun Gong exercises, female practitioners performed the Lotus Dance and Fan Dance in front of the crowd, and, of course, everyone revealed the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. At the Dafa stall many people came to have their names translated into Chinese and written in calligraphy by a Chinese practitioner for free. At the same time they learned about Falun Gong and the persecution in China from the materials at the stall and from the nearby practitioners. Many kind-hearted people signed the petition, calling for an end to the persecution in China. One practitioner had Falun Gong announced on the loud speaker and afterwards the broadcaster showed a lot of interest in the practice. He even came to the stall to speak to one of the practitioners in depth about Dafa.
The parade won an award from the Lord Mayor and received much support from the audience. The activities ran smoothly throughout the whole day, and the people of Oxford were kindhearted and showed much support. They were concerned for the practitioners in China who are suffering at the hands of Jiang's regime.
