Jiang Regime Officials: "Make Those Who Practice Falun Gong Live in Poverty, Break up Their Families and Make Them Become Homeless"

June 29, 2003

(Clearwisdom.net, June 1) A number of lawless officials from the Yuanshi government in Henan Province and the police from the Zhengzhou Female Labor Camp heed the orders from Jiang's group and lawlessly persecute local Falun Gong practitioners. They applied different methods, including unauthorized confiscating of items and stealing practitioners' personal property, using excruciating means, and also publicly parading the practitioners in the streets, interrogating the practitioners by means of torture, and detaining practitioners without due cause. The criminal actions the police in the Zhengzhou Female Labor Camp have employed include beating and torturing Falun Gong practitioners, or they instigate inmates to do it for them. They also subject the practitioners to brainwashing. These lawless human beings also extort practitioners' money and force-feed them. We hereby expose their crimes, as follows:

In 2000, local Falun Gong practitioners Sun Yaoting (female), Zhu Xianzhi (female), Li Miaoneng, Wang Shumin (female), and Zhang Sujing (female) went to Beijing to appeal and report the truth of Falun Gong. On June 28, 2000, they were taken back.

After returning, personnel from the township government illegally searched and confiscated practitioners' personal property. All of Sun Yaoting's butter processing equipment, the products and the raw materials were confiscated. Zhang Jiancheng and Li Miaoneng's tractor fittings repair store, and their personal property with a value of over 100,000 Yuan was ransacked. When the police searched and confiscated practitioners' property, they openly looted. They even leased Zhang and Li's repair store to other people. Zhu Xianzhi's three-wheeled motorcycle, bicycle, TV set, a platform scale and cassette recorder were snatched.

Afterwards, these lawless officials used excruciating means to torture these practitioners. They brutally beat the practitioners with ropes and they also hit and kicked them. Several practitioners were bruised to different degrees. Sun Yaoting was beaten to the point of disability and could not get up. She was hospitalized for several days. However, later, with boards hanging from their necks and hands bound behind them, they were escorted onto trucks to be paraded through the streets of every village in the township against their will. The officials also posted malicious slogans everywhere, such as shamelessly writing: "Make Those Who Practice Falun Gong Live in Poverty, Break up Their Families and Make Them Become Homeless."

Zhu Xianzhi recalled the persecution she suffered:

I went to Beijing to appeal on June 28, 2000, and was taken back the next day. I was illegally held at the detention center for 35 days and then was released. The police were afraid that we would go to Beijing again, so they came to our homes and harassed us from time to time. They tried to force us to go to a brainwashing center. Around 7:00 a.m. on September 28, the town's political party secretary Zhi Yaobin, along with Li Zhancai and other three persons, came to my home to take me to a brainwashing center. They intruded into my home and confiscated a tape recorder and a handwritten copy of Falun Gong. After that, they forcibly took me to the township. On October 1, we were taken to the county police department and charged with "illegal gathering." I was detained for 15 days. On the afternoon of November 12, our family was working in the field. Zhi Yaobin, Li Zhancai, Liu Hongxun and about five others, led by the village party secretary and head, jumped over the wall into our compound from our neighbor's side. They failed to find anyone. Around 8:00 p.m., Zhi Yaobin took about seven or eight people to invade my home and got into the kitchen. At that time I had just prepared dinner, but had not eaten yet. He insisted on taking me away. My husband happened to come back from outside. Seeing our yard was full of people, he asked, "Who jumped over the wall and broke into my home this afternoon?" Liu Hongxun said he did. My husband said, "It is against the law to intrude into residential homes!" Liu Hongxun beat him immediately. The others shouted and screamed. I replied quickly, "Stop beating! Aren't you looking for me? You should not have beaten him just because he asked you a question." Then they took me away.

The next day, my husband went to the township government to get an explanation and the reason for my arrest. Nobody replied to him. They said, "With respect to Falun Gong, there is no law! You can appeal! You cannot win, even if you go to the edge of the sky!" They also threatened him, "We will lock you up in the town government with no food, and no water!" When we asked the others for water through the window, when the police discovered it, they threatened the one who gave us water, "Who told you to give them water to drink? We don't care about them!" When they remembered, they would send some steamed buns. Sometimes, they would not give us anything.

At around 8:00 p.m. on the third day they ordered me to the duty office and shut the door as soon as I came in. Three young guards viciously stared at me. Liu Hongxun slapped me on my face. He also kicked and hit me. The other two helped him. Finally, they fabricated a charge of "illegal gathering" and detained me for 15 days in the county police department. After that, they still did not release me, but instead detained me for 16 more days. I asked them why? They said that it was the "government's" decision. I went on hunger strike to protest. They finally released me.

One day in March 2001, the Political and Judiciary Committee party secretary Zhi Yaobin came to my home to "touch bases." I was working in the field. They forcibly took me to see Niu Wenqing. My husband went to plead with them, but they said that he was interfering with the execution of official business; hence they wanted to forcibly take my husband away. In the end, I agreed to go with them. Then they released my husband. They dragged and pulled me into a car. On May 3, 2001, the lawless officials held a brainwashing session.

I was forced to leave my home to avoid further trouble and worked on odd jobs away from home. They searched for me everywhere. After they arrested me, they scrutinized my relatives and friends who had been in contact with me. They also confiscated my mother's bicycle. During a time when I worked outside, around July 20, 2001, they illegally detained my husband for seven days in order to get information about me from him. On the first evening of his detention, several people monitored my husband and did not allow him to sleep. On July 31, I was abducted and detained in the Jindun Hotel in Yanshi City. Over a dozen of them took turns to monitor me in three shifts. They didn't allow me to sleep for three days. They also cuffed my hands behind my back for two nights. Each time it lasted for two hours or so. This stretched my right arm to the point where it sustained an injury. During that period, I described these illegal actions of the township government and police department to the Minghui website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom). The officials from the county and township government were so angry that they sentenced me to a labor camp.

On September 5, 2001, I was illegally sentenced to forced labor and was imprisoned in the Zhengzhou Female Labor Camp. After entering the labor camp, I was kind to everybody. But Zhengzhou Female Labor Camp authorities used a series of violent methods: two people "clamping"* one practitioner, and restricting practitioners' words and deeds. Talking to steadfast practitioners could result in brutal beatings from drug addicts, and verbal abuse from collaborators.** Drug addicts Yuan Yueli and Duan Jihong often beat me brutally. I wrote a letter to report that the wardens instigate common prisoners in the labor camp beat practitioners, but Guo Xiangrong and several other wardens discovered that I wrote it, surrounded me, searched me forcibly and took the letter away. On October 18, I was sent to Division No.2 where I was "clamped" by two drug addicts.

The following are facts of the persecution I suffered in this labor camp

1) Violation of human rights:

I was "clamped" by Chen Shuai and Liu who restricted my speech and daily movements. I was not allowed to leave Liu and Chen even one step away, nor was I allowed to speak to Falun Gong practitioners or practice the exercises. I was not allowed to write any reports, read or copy any of Teacher's lectures.

2) Insulting human dignity:

Refusing to follow their orders would result in being loudly cursed with dirty verbal abuse. As long as I talked to Falun Gong practitioners, they would either loudly curse or hit and kick. The wardens acted as if they didn't see any of this. I had reported my situation to the police, asking them to dismiss the clamping system. They not only didn't care about it but also ridiculed me maliciously. I frequently reported this abuse to the team head and wardens, but to no avail.

3) Using the prisoners to participate in the persecution:

Setting up a monthly bonus system of 500 points for those who "clamped" Falun Gong practitioners was equivalent to a 5-day reduction of their prison terms; force-feeding would be rewarded with 1,500 points monthly, which was equal to a 15-day reduction of their prison terms. In January, some prisoners who participated in the persecution were "rewarded" with 2,000 points.

4) Force-feeding:

Beginning October 23, 2001, I went on a five-day hunger strike. From November 5, 2002, to Feburary 8, 2003, I held another hunger strike for over three months to protest the unjust treatment against me. Looking for an early release, four to five drug addicts pushed me to the ground. Each time, one of them would push my hands, one would push my feet, one would sit on my belly, one would hold down my head, cover my mouth and pinch my nose to pour soup into my mouth. I was too choked to breathe. When I struggled, they would then kick and hit me. The choking made me spit out the food. Chen Shuai's kicks injured my chest so that it hurt to breathe. A joint in my left leg was injured from Li Jianhua's kicks. After each force-feeding I would be in a faint for over an hour. I would breathe irregularly and vomit. My tongue and mouth were wounded from their prying my mouth open and inserting the feeding tube.

Around December 28, drug addict Hu Zhaoxia brought a gynecological device used to stretch the opening of the cervix for gynecological exams which they would use to spread our mouths wide open. Several times, my upper and lower jaw bones, the maxilla and mandible, were dislocated, and I was unable to close my mouth. When I could not close my mouth they still taunted me, "Don't pretend." In the end, when they saw that I truly could not close my mouth, then they took me to a clinic. The doctor there impatiently massaged my mouth randomly, but I still could not close it. Acupuncture did not work either. Finally, they were at their wit's end. Painful as it was, I slowly massaged and rubbed my mouth by myself. Later, I could close it. If I refused to drink water, they would pour salt water into my mouth three times a day to force me to drink. After I held a hunger strike for seven days, they inserted an oral feeding tube to pour soup into me. It cost 20 Yuan each time (the average monthly income for urban Chinese is about 500 Yuan). Twelve days later, they started to pour salt water into me which also cost 20 Yuan per time. I was forcibly infused for three days. When they applied these kinds of methods, if I refused to cooperate, they would hit and kick me and verbally abuse me.

5) Physical punishment in the form of working overtime to abolish my determination, and destroy my body and mind:

We were forced to work daily overtime at the plant, whether or not there was anything for us to do. They were afraid that we would practice the exercises and study the Fa; therefore they used another series of illegal deeds to persecute and torture us. If we did not cooperate with them, they would order four to five drug addicts to surround, hit and curse us. If the warden on duty saw us sending forth righteous thoughts they would take away some points from those who "clamped" us, and then the "clamps" were ordered to curse and beat us. We reported to the wardens who said with scorn, "If you do not practice the exercises, they will not beat you."

*Clamps: Several common prisoners are designated to watch, brainwash and torture the practitioners and deprive them of sleep, forbid them to practice the Falun Gong exercises, and other restrictions and abuses. Those prisoners were called "clamps." Usually it amounted to "three clamping one," but there were also occasions where "four clamping one" or "five clamping one" would be applied, meaning that numerous "clamps" monitored one Dafa practitioner. They followed and monitored Dafa practitioners' every move. They "accompanied" practitioners when eating, sleeping, working and doing other activities, even when using the toilet and taking showers.

**Collaborators are former Falun Gong practitioners who have gone astray due to brainwashing and torture.
