In 2002, 29-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Wu Jingxia was tortured to death by public security police of China. Jingxia was in excellent health due to the marvelous effects of practicing Falun Gong. She started practicing after hearing about its healing abilities, because she had been sickly since childhood. After practicing for a period of time she was free from all illnesses, and Jingxia developed a firm belief in Master and Dafa.

After July 20, 1999, Jingxia was illegally detained several times. In the fall of 1999, she was taken away by the local police, and held in criminal detention for 38 days. Even after suffering many ordeals at the detention center, Jingxia still practiced meditation there and did the Falun Gong exercises. Through her family's efforts and with the help of friends she was released.

In May of 2000, Jingxia decided to appeal in Beijing for Falun Gong. On her second day there, before going to the Appeals Bureau, she was arrested. The police escorted her home and fined her 3,000 Yuan.*

In the summer of 2001, Jingxia was forced into a brainwashing center. The police, led by Zhuang Shantian, deprived the detained practitioners of sleep. They interrogated the detainees in the middle of the night and tried to pressure them into writing "Regret Letters," abandoning Falun Gong; otherwise they would not be set free.

Police arrested her on January 17, 2002 for distributing Falun Gong flyers. They handcuffed her to the heat pipes at the front door of the police station. She was then sent to a brainwashing center on January 18. On January 19 the local police notified her family that she had "committed suicide by hanging." Jingxia's parents, uncle, and brother rushed to the Weifang hospital, which was surrounded by police. The police followed them everywhere. The relatives had to argue for permission to view the corpse. Jingxia had been breast-feeding her tiny baby, and without nursing for 3 days her breasts would have been very sore. The police had tortured her by targeting this area. There were four to five deep depressions on her chest from electric baton shocks. The police tried to hide this fact by covering the area with pieces of paper. Her face was also covered with paper tissues hiding the blood trickling out of the corner of her mouth. Her lower back and thighs were beaten so severely that they had dark bruises. The beatings had fractured one of her thighbones. There was also a red mark on her neck.

On the same day, her family thought they were being taken to the city hall for an explanation of the handling of the event but were actually taken to a crematorium which was guarded by police. An officer said, "Let them see the kid" and then Jingxia's father and uncle realized that the police were going to cremate her corpse. The family refused to allow the cremation and commented, "After all, the Communist Party only knows how to continually lie. Their every word is dishonest." Her uncle could not be placated so he grabbed her father and ran out of the crematorium, with the police following.

Jingxia's family could not endure this grief so they sued the Weifang City Police Department. The man in charge of that office hinted that, "This is a wining suit for you. But today if you win, tomorrow we'll all be fired and have no means to support ourselves."

To this day the telephone at her home is tapped. Her family has lost its freedom. Her parents grieve the loss of their daughter. But there is no one to complain to and no way for justice to be served. Thus all of Jingxia's relatives suffer the pains of grief and injustice.
