A Suggestion for Overseas Practitioners Making Phone Calls to China

Jan. 23, 2004 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner from China

(Clearwisdom.net) The situation in which the Chinese people live makes some of them act very cautiously toward strangers. Some people will automatically hang up the phone when receiving calls from strangers, thereby missing precious opportunities to learn the truth about Falun Gong.

I think that the most important step in this process is the first sentence spoken by the caller, the chief aim of which should be to put the call recipient at ease. Once that has been accomplished, truth clarification can proceed step by step.

When calling an area where many people hang up the phone, it may be better to say: "I am an overseas Chinese, trying to learn the opinions of the residents in your city regarding some important events. May we chat for a few minutes?"

The truth-clarification can be done subtly during the survey. For example, "Someone in your city was persecuted just because of his belief. Are you aware of this incident?" "Jiang has been sued in many countries for persecuting Falun Gong. Do you think he will personally appear in court to defend himself?" "The Tiananmen self-immolation incident has been demonstrated to have been a staged deception. Have you heard about that?" "In your opinion, what is the credibility of news broadcasting on the Central TV station?" During this survey, you can decide what to say next based on how nervous the call recipient might seem.

This approach could also be adapted for distributing flyers and documentary VCDs. In places where it is inconvenient to distribute flyers, perhaps we could invite the predestined people to attend our "truth-clarification and Falun Gong exercise instruction party" or a "music appreciation and explanation party."
