Falun Dafa practitioners in Yecheng City, Hebei Province have been persecuted for believing in Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance since July 1999. Below are some examples.

• Practitioner Ms. Wei Shufen, 40 years old, is from Qiuguang Village. She went to Beijing to appeal many times after July 20, 1999 and was arrested by the local police. She went on hunger strikes in protest several times. Each time she was released while on her last gasp after being tortured. The police fined her and confiscated 9,600 yuan from her (500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China). In 2002, she was arrested and sent to Shijiazhuang Legal System Education Center, which is in fact a brainwashing center, where she was subjected to further torture.
• Practitioner Ms. Lu Suzhen, 50 years old, is the Logistics Director of the Credit Organization in Yecheng City. The city police station arrested her for her practice of Falun Gong. Officer Li Wenwu from the Political Protection Department punched her in the face, giving her a black eye. The police also extorted 5,000 yuan from her.
• Practitioner Yan Qin is a retired employee of the Grain Depot. Because of her firm belief in Falun Gong, the local police station arrested and detained her for one month. The police also extorted 5,000 yuan from her.
• Practitioner Li Wensu was 40 years old. For her belief in Falun Gong, she was dismissed by the Yecheng City Culture and Education Department. The local Political Protection Department detained her illegally up to 4 times, extorted 6,000 yuan from her and refused to give her a receipt. She was later sentenced to three years of forced labor education.
• Practitioner Ms. Liu Huier, 36 years old, is from Zhoujiazhuang Village. She had several persistent illnesses previously, but after practicing Falun Gong, she was in good health. She went to Beijing to appeal many times after July 20, 1999 and was arrested and detained 4 times at the Yecheng Detention Center. To protest she went on a hunger strike until she was very thin. She was also tortured. In 2002, she was arrested and persecuted in the brainwashing class in the Legal System Education Center in Shijiazhuang City. She was not allowed to sleep for more than 20 days and was not allowed to go to the bathroom when she needed to.
• Practitioner Zhang Wuhan, 50 years old, from Mazhuang Village, has been detained several times and has now been forced to remain homeless to avoid arrest. In 2002, he was sent to the brainwashing class in the Legal System Education Center in Shijiazhuang City. When he was detained in the Yechang Detention Center, the prisoners were incited by the jail police to beat him. He suffered a two-inch long cut on his head, but the detention center did not give him any medical treatment.
• Xinhua Police Station detained, fined, beat up, handcuffed and hung up three practitioners from Lianzhou Town many times. The practitioners were Li Shuqin and her two daughters, Li Hong and Li Su. Li Hong was sentenced to three years of forced labor education. Li Shuqin and Li Su were sent to the Legal System Education Center in Shijiazhuang City for brainwashing.
• Incited by the jail police, the prisoners beat up a practitioner couple, Mr. Li Guoli and Ms. Lan Ju, in the detention center of Yecheng City. They had been fined up to 10,070 yuan. Officer Li Wenwu of the Political Security Department in the police station also took away their car. The couple had been forced to leave home for three years and left 3 young children at home to be looked after by their elderly grandfather. The oldest children are only twelve or thirteen years old.
• Practitioner Ms. Wu Suhua, 34 years old, is from Gangshang Village. She has been forced to leave home and go from place to place by the local police station for three years. There is no one to look after her 14-year-old son and her parents.
• Practitioner Ms. Peng Yujun, 38 years old, is from Zhang Village. She was detained twice and fined thousands of yuan. Later the police from the Legal System Center in Yecheng City arrested her for further persecution.
• Practitioner Ms. Dong Cuifang, 29 years old, is from Zhang Village. The local police station harassed her so many times that she was forced to leave her home and go from place to place. She was later arrested and sent to Beijing Daxing Labor Camp, and was beaten to death while she was imprisoned. There were wounds all over her body, including severe trauma to her head.
• Nanying Police Station arrested and detained practitioners Ms. Deng Meijuan and Ms. Deng Yanhui many times. Deng Yanhui was later sent to a labor camp for two years. In 2003 the police arrested Deng Meijuan and her 3-month-old daughter, and sent them to the brainwashing center.
• Yecheng Political Protection Department arrested practitioner Zhou Yinli from Meihua town and detained him at the brainwashing class many times. He was beaten and fined 2,000 yuan.
• Dafa practitioners Shu Jun and Jun Yan were reported to the police and arrested by the Gangshang Village Police Station. They were sent to the brainwashing class in the Shijiazhuang City Legal System Education Center.

There are still many Dafa practitioners in Yecheng City who have been detained, tortured, and have had their families broken up. The above cases are only the tip of the iceberg.
