When Clarifying the Truth, We Should Conform to Everyday People's Conventions, Not Adopt their Notions

Oct. 12, 2004 |   By a practitioner in Henan

(Clearwisdom.net) When practitioners clarify the truth, they often run into the following situation: many of the world's people are discontent with the corruption in society or even discontent with society's institutions; they are also sympathetic toward Falun Gong. In speaking with them, practitioners still keep aspects of their humanness, so it seems as if there is a common language and a common ground to talk about it. They also go along with everyday people and talk about those things that happen in society, and then they start talking about them all the time, and in doing so, unconsciously adopting an everyday person's state of mind.

Here I would like to remind fellow practitioners that when you clarify the truth, even to your family members, you need to remain levelheaded. Remember, by heart, Teacher's words, and remember that you are a cultivator. Don't get involved in things that you are not supposed to get involved with. Don't comment on society's rights and wrongs. Avoid causing everyday people to misunderstand us and avoid stirring up anger and resentment. Teacher has explained very clearly in his lectures how a cultivator should treat ordinary people's matters. Even if we make reference to things in society, we are using them to help us clarify the truth. I suggest to practitioners who are not able to handle this issue well that you please read Zhuan Falun, "Cultivation of Speech" and other related teachings. We should be able to

"See as if see not--
Neither confused nor tempted.
Hear as if hear not--
Mind not disturbed."

Through the process of clarifying of the truth and saving sentient beings, let's cultivate to become purer and more righteous.
