Facts of the persecution

More than 120 Falun Dafa practitioners are being held at Jianzishan Prison in Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province. They are deprived of personal freedom, and tortured and mistreated at the Drill Division. They have been on a hunger strike for nearly 20 days. Some are force-fed and on the brink of death; others are close to a mental breakdown.

The perpetrators at the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp in Hebei Province shock Falun Gong practitioners with electric batons, using from one to a dozen batons at once. They also subject the practitioners to the following forms of abuse.

• They slap the practitioners' faces with the soles of hard plastic shoes hundreds of times.
• They beat the practitioners with wooden planks and whip them with belts and bamboo sticks.
• They tied the practitioners up with rope and forced them to squat for several days and nights.
• They didn't allow the practitioners to sleep, sometimes going for days to a month at a time.
• They throw the practitioners outside when it's extremely hot or cold.
• They gag the practitioners' mouths with soiled feminine hygiene napkins or tampons.
• They force-feed the practitioners with human feces and poke their bodies and their nail beds with needles.
• They rub pepper powder into the practitioners' eyes and into their mouths, nostrils and ears.
• They drag the practitioners out in the fields in middle of the night and bury them in a pit up to their neck.
• They put snakes and scorpions into the practitioners' shirts.
• They use pliers to pinch the practitioners' flesh and nipples.
• They tie the practitioners up in a cemetery late at night and play recordings of terrifying sounds.
• They use home-made crank telephones to shock the practitioners, because the electric current is five times that of an electric baton.

Dafa practitioner Ms.Yuan Rong in Jingkou Town, the Shapingba District, Chongqing City owned a private company prior to the persecution. In October 1999 she went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa and was arrested on October 28. From then on, the perpetrators constantly harassed her. They sent her to detention centers and brainwashing classes until her company went bankrupt and her family was broken apart. The perpetrators then sent her to the Maojiashan Women's Forced Labor Camp and held her there for over one year. They refused to release her even after her term had expired, sent her to the Geleshan Brainwashing Center and held her there for 22 months. Her incarceration has totaled more than three years. The perpetrators released her on August 25, 2003 after extorting 25,000 Yuan from her daughter.

Perpetrators from Zhuhai City's "610 Office" and National Security Bureau in Guangdong Province have been brutally persecuting Dafa practitioners since July 20, 1999. They arrested large groups of practitioners and sent many of them to brainwashing sessions and labor camps. Many practitioners are still being illegally held at brainwashing class even now. Recently, the perpetrators from Zhuhai City's "610 Office" abducted practitioner Lu Pingyi on July 14 and forced his wife Zhou Meiling into homelessness. They also arrested practitioners Ms. He in her 60s, retired government official Liu Junren in his 70s, retired Ms. Su and Ms. Cai, Chen Xiaoyan, Hu Yong, Zhang Wenxue and Liu Min. Most of them are currently being held at Zhuhai City Detention Center.
