San Francisco, CA: Practitioners Rally In Front of Chinese Consulate, Urge Hu Jintao To Fulfill his Responsibilities out of Conscience (Photos)

Nov. 19, 2004

(Clearwisdom.net) On November 18, upon hearing that practitioners were harassed and attacked in Argentina when they were conducting a peaceful appeal to a Chinese delegation headed by Hu Jintao, San Francisco practitioners rallied in front of the Chinese Consulate on the same evening to urge the new leader to make a clear distinction between good and evil and to fulfill his responsibilities according to his conscience.

Practitioners Urge China to Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice

Peaceful appeal in front of Chinese Consulate in San Francisco

San Francisco practitioner Mr. Peng said that practitioners displayed "Bring Jiang Zemin, Luo Gan, Liu Jing and Zhou Yongkang to Justice" and "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" banners during Hu Jintao's visit to Argentina. While the Jiang faction is still persecuting practitioners and many practitioners are still being detained in prisons and suffering from brutal persecution, practitioners certainly want to appeal to president Hu Jintao and request him to end the persecution.

Mr. Peng said, unfortunately, the Chinese Embassy in Argentina sent agents to use violence against practitioners to tear and steal practitioners' banners. Those Chinese also swore at practitioners and instigated local police to interfere with practitioners' right of appeal. All this is illegal conduct, as people in Argentina have the freedom of appeal.

"The persecution of Falun Gong has been extended overseas and the Argentina incident once again illustrates this sad fact," Mr. Peng said, "We want to send one message to the Chinese Consulate-anyone who has participated in the persecution of Falun Gong must and will be held accountable. We warn staff of the consulate not to follow the Jiang group to continue the persecution. Everyone has to chose his/her own path. Falun Gong cultivates 'Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance' and is a beneficial practice without doing any harm to the nation. No one should persecute such a group of kind-hearted people."

"As the Chinese regime knows the persecution of Falun Gong is illegitimate, it uses commercial interests to buy support from other countries, press them not to report the persecution and remain silent. What a contemptible strategy!" Mr. Peng added.

San Francisco practitioner Ms. Zheng said: "We have always been peacefully resisting the persecution in the past 5 years. Now, though Jiang has stepped down, our situation has not yet improved under the reign of the new leader Hu Jintao. While he is visiting foreign countries, we want to take this opportunity to appeal to him, and this is absolutely reasonable. We haven't done anything illegal."

Ms. Zheng added: "In democratic nations, officials of Chinese embassies and consulates have been using illegal measures to interfere with practitioners' peaceful appeals. Incidents in which practitioners are attacked happen one after another. As the top leader of China, remaining silent in the face of this illegal conduct is in fact acquiescing and encouraging the crime. Why should the new leader carry on the persecution policy? Is he willing to be held accountable, together with Jiang Zemin, for the persecution?"
