Facts of the Persecution

Ms. Xiong Xianqing, age 67, had many health problems that the doctor told her was incurable. After practicing Falun Dafa, she recovered completely. After the persecution began, Ms. Xiong went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa and handed out truth-clarifying materials. She was detained many times, beaten up, and brutally force-fed. Her former employer withheld all of her retirement pension starting at the end of 1999. Because the police harassed her so often, she and her husband had to move away from home.

Mr. Yang Liming is a Falun Dafa practitioner in Jincheng Region, Linghai City, Liaoning Province. On the evening of July 1, 2003, he gave a truth-clarification flyer to a police officer named Ji Ming (male) in front of the Jincheng Police Station, and was arrested and sent to Linghai City Detention Center. Mr. Yang went on a hunger strike to protest, and was released on July 16, 2003. On July 29, 2003, Ji Ming and two other police officers abducted Yang Liming from his home and sent him to the Jinzhou Forced Labor Camp, where he was sentenced to a two-year term.

Former employee of the Chengdu City State-owned Electronic Factory and Falun Dafa practitioner, Mr. Wu Zhongming, served two years in a forced labor camp, and returned to work in 2002. He found out that he had been dismissed, and was denied unemployment pay. The employer would not give him back his ID card, so he could not appeal to the government for any help. On top of this, his employer harassed him all the time. The constant harassment forced Mr. Wu to become homeless in order to avoid being arrested at home.

Ms. Wang Xia is a retired employee from Nuclear Power Plant 293 in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province. She was inhumanely tortured simply for believing in Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance, and because she steadfastly practiced Falun Dafa. Ms. Wang was reported to the police many times by her employer, and was detained in a forced labor camp for 26 months. Her physical and mental health have been damaged as a result of such a long period of torture. Her friends and family have been placed under a lot of pressure and are experiencing a great deal of mental anguish.

My name is Tan Yurui, and I live in Acheng City, Heilongjiang Province. On October 13, 2000, I was sent to the Acheng City Detention Center. I was bailed out only after my family had 16,000 yuan extorted from them [500 yuan is the average monthly income for an urban Chinese worker]. On December 18, 2000, I went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. I was detained in many different places and then sent to a brainwashing class. In the end, the police sent me to the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp, where I was inhumanely tortured and forced to do heavy labor. My body was covered with scabies. The police scratched and dug at my scabies with a metal spoon. It was so painful that it felt like my heart was splitting apart. I could not sleep at all for a whole night.
