Jiang's Regime Shows Its Evil Nature Again in France

Feb. 9, 2004

Jiang Zemin used to make a show everywhere he went, calling attention to himself. These tendencies have reversed, now he is always concerned with Falun Gong practitioners' peaceful appeals and tries to hide from them. He dares not even go abroad since there are lawsuits against him in Belgium, the United States, Spain, Germany, and Korea, among other countries. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have opened a case file for Jiang and other Chinese officials under the War Crimes provision, which could lead to an immediate investigation if they stepped on Canadian soil.

Falun Gong practitioners follow the principles of Truth, Compassion, and Tolerance. All three principles require practitioners to objectively deal with all people under all circumstances. To uphold Tolerance, practitioners must remain calm and rational, and be fair and objective even when they are suffering inhumane persecution. There is an old saying "Each grievance has its root cause and each debt has its creditor." Bringing Jiang and his regime, those personally responsible for the persecution of Falun Gong, to justice is both rational and logical.

When it was announced that President Hu Jintao would visit France, Falun Gong practitioners said they would treat Hu with respect, separating him from those who had participated in the persecution. This made Jiang furious. In order to persecute Falun Gong and divert attention from real issues, Jiang's regime disregarded the French spirit of freedom, equality, and fraternity. They used political and economical tactics to force a few individuals in the French government pressure the police to arrest dozens of practitioners coming from Great Britain, Germany, France, Taiwan, and Norway. They made up lies, claiming that Falun Gong practitioners would go to France to "stir up trouble."

The Jiang regime's conduct in France further exposed its evil nature.

In 1999, feeling threatened by so many people practicing Falun Gong, Jiang declared he wanted Falun Gong eliminated within three months. Over four years have passed, and they came to realize that it was impossible to eliminate Falun Gong. The persecution of Falun Gong is bound to fail. Caught in a dilemma, they don't know whether to press ahead or to give up.

An exclusive interview with Mr. Li Hongzhi, founder of Falun Gong, aired globally on January 20, 2004 on New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV). When Mr. Li was asked about the outcome of the persecution, he said: "A lot of people have realized that the persecution of Falun Gong has been a massive drain on the national economy [...] So if the government's position on Falun Gong isn't changed, Chinese society has no hope of stability." He continued: "And if the stance on Falun Gong were to be reversed, well, then all the families of the people who were killed in the persecution, the many people whose homes were ransacked, those who were heavily fined, those who were persecuted terribly, and some who were even crippled from all the maltreatment, wouldn't you have to answer to all those people? Then who should be held responsible? I think it should be that wicked ringleader in China who's persecuted Falun Gong. He should be brought to justice. You can see how scared he is when he's faced with the law. He hangs on to money and power with a death grip [...]."

In his last struggle, trying to drag people down with him, Jiang spread lies to other countries via embassies and consulates. He also resorted to political and economic tactics to silence other countries. Recently, dozens of Falun Gong practitioners were arrested in Paris for no reason. It was the result of Jiang's lies and enticements, tempting some individuals in the French government. The Jiang regime's actions caused a few individuals in the French government sacrifice part of France's spirit and reputation for the sake of material interests. They followed a man who is being sued for genocide and crimes against humanity, and imprisoning and torturing his country's own citizens for their beliefs.

In order to justify the persecution of Falun Gong, Jiang has spread lies, saying Falun Gong was "trying to take people away from following the Party's leadership, and that it was against the Party and the Chinese government." He tried to gain other officials' support on the persecution of Falun Gong. Mr. Li said, "Falun Gong practitioners cultivate themselves. We don't get involved in politics. Neither are we against any government. What we're simply doing is opposing the persecution, and the main thing is we're targeting the chief instigators of the persecution." Last year when Premier Wen Jiabao made official visits abroad, Falun Gong practitioners displayed banners that welcomed Wen on his visit to the U.S. and demanded that Jiang Zemin be brought to justice. Falun Gong practitioners again welcomed President Hu Jintao, as they did Premier Wen.

Jiang is also claiming that the persecution of Falun Gong was a decision of all the leaders at the Central Politburo Standing Committee. There are seven members in the Standing Committee. The fact is, in July 1999, all of the members except Jiang himself were against the persecution of Falun Gong. The decision was made by Jiang alone, yet now he is trying to avoid responsibility and has concocted schemes to make other Chinese leaders share the blame. In order to push the French to oppose Falun Gong, Jiang's regime claimed that Falun Gong practitioners would stir up trouble, rather than welcome President Hu in France. He enticed a few individuals in the French government to direct the police to arrest Falun Gong practitioners.

During the past a few years, Jiang's regime tightly controlled and blocked all information about Falun Gong, deceiving many Chinese officials. This exclusive interview with the founder of Falun Gong was a big blow for Jiang, who dared not to talk about it in China. The Chinese media, directly controlled by Jiang, also kept quiet about the interview.

In 2002, the German and Icelandic governments were also persuaded by Jiang to mistreat Falun Gong practitioners, and faced strong criticism from the international community. Through the Falun Gong practitioners' continuous truth clarification efforts, the Berlin government issued a formal written apology to Falun Gong practitioners. The Icelandic government's acts touched off a firestorm, whereby Iceland's leading newspaper carried four full-page ads of apologies to Falun Gong practitioners. The advertisement was sponsored by more than four hundred and fifty people, including members of the Icelandic Parliament and other prominent figures, sending shockwaves throughout the country. Icelandic citizens held three consecutive days of large-scale protests against its government's bowing to Jiang's pressure and participating in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

Although Jiang has played the same trick in France, when the French government and French people learn the truth, Jiang's lies will be exposed, and the French people will make the right choice for themselves.
