-- An entire family in Acheng City, Heilongjiang Province started practicing Falun Dafa. The family benefited physically and spiritually, and each family member became a better person. After July 20, 1999, they were repeatedly subjected to persecution. The father of the family, Zhang Qingwen, 62, has been abducted and taken to the Acheng City Detention Center twice. Another two times he was abducted and taken to a brainwashing class. The mother of the family, Sun Shufen, 62, was abducted and brought to the Acheng City Detention Center in February 2001. She was sent to a brainwashing class after being detained for 53 days. Their son, Zhang Guangli, was detained multiple times because he went to Beijing to appeal. He was sent to labor camp for one year, and his term was extended by three months. In September 2003 the Acheng City "610 Office" ⁽¹⁾ personnel tried to abduct Zhang Guangli from his home, but failed. Zhang Guangli was forced to leave home to avoid being arrested there. During the Spring Festival holiday season Zhang Guangli came back home to visit his family. On February 9, 2004, an Acheng City "610 Officer" came to abduct both father and son. Their family members tried to stop the abduction, but were unsuccessful, and were struck by the officer's vehicle. Twenty more policemen came that night and tried to arrest them at their home. The family had to leave their home in order to avoid being arrested there.

Practitioner Ms. Tan Yingchun was tortured to death in the Qinghai Provincial Women's Labor Camp in December 2002. Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Xuefeng was injected with nerve-damaging drugs in the labor camp and suffered a mental collapse.

In the Qinghai Provincial Men's Labor Camp in Duoma Town, Qinghai Province, Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. He Wanzhu (younger brother of practitioner Mr. He Wanji, who was tortured to death) smelled something strange in the soup he was served at the labor camp. He tried a sip. He then had difficulty breathing and his lips became numb, even though he had only a sip.

-- Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhao Lianxia from Da-an City, Jilin Province was abducted by police from her home in the middle of October 2003. Since then she has been brutally beaten, causing kidney bleeding, and her life has been in danger. She is being treated in a hospital now, and is watched closely by police.

-- At the beginning of 2004 Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Sun Yuzhen, who was detained in the No. 2 Wangcun Labor Camp in Zibo City, Shandong Province was stripped and hung by her cuffed hands from a window frame, where she was left to freeze. She was tortured this way just because she shouted, "Falun Dafa is Good!" On lunar calendar date January 6, some drug addict prisoners beat up practitioner Ms. Zhang Wanxia multiple times under the direction of police. This resulted in Ms. Zhang Wanxia's face turning a purple-black color, and in her not being able to walk.

-- Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Xu Jinsheng of Zhangguantun Village, Dulangkou Town, Shiping County, Shandong Province, was turned in to the police. On February 24, 2004 he was abducted after his home was ransacked. He is being detained in the Shiping County Detention Center. Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Xiurong of Junwanghuang Village, Leping Town, Shiping County was reported the same day while posting truth-clarifying materials at the Xinxing Elementary School in Shisanlipu, where she teaches. She was abducted by police as well.

-- Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Fan Lanju and Ms. Xiu Zhen from Gaoyi County, Hebei Province were both detained in the county detention center on February 1, 2004. Ms. Fan, who is in her 60s, went on hunger strike to protest, and was sent to the hospital for emergency care. Now she is being held in a labor camp. Police ransacked both of their homes, and extorted more than 5,000 Yuan from one family. The amount extorted from the other family is currently unknown.

-- On February 6, 2004 Mr. Ding Xingjiao, a Falun Dafa practitioner and Xinfa Elementary School teacher in Yunmeng County, Hubei Province, was reported for passing out Falun Gong greeting cards. He is still being detained in the Yunmeng County Detention Center. He went on hunger strike to protest, and has been force-fed. His teeth were knocked out, and he is in critical condition. Police in Yunmeng County conducted large-scale arrests in February 2004, and arrested many Falun Dafa practitioners.

The director of the Suizhong County "610 Office" in Huludao City, Liaoning Province Shang Ergui went to the Suizhong County Education Bureau and requested that they force Falun Dafa practitioner and Experimental Elementary School teacher Ms. Huang Lihua to give up her beliefs and write a "Guarantee Statement " ⁽³⁾. Ms. Huang has been tortured many times just because she believes in Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. She was sent to a detention center and a brainwashing class, and the Education Bureau suspended her teaching position for one year and withheld part of her salary. Her superiors harassed her many times and put a huge amount of pressure on her. Principal Jia Dewang also threatened her.

Taipei Times reported on March 7, 2004: The Contemporary Famous Chinese Art Work Exhibition in Taiwan started on March 5. The purpose of this exhibition is to bring people's attention to the persecution against Falun Gong by the Chinese government.

(1) "610 Office": an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.

(2) Yuan: the Chinese currency; 500 Yuan is the average monthly salary for an urban worker in China.

(3) "Guarantee Statement": A statement to declare that he or she is remorseful for practicing Falun Gong and guarantees not to practice Falun Gong again, not to go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and never again associate with any Falun Dafa practitioners.
