Xinjiang Engineering Institute lecturer, Ms. Li Xianghong, went to Beijing to appeal after July 20, 1999, and was abducted and taken to the Fourth Peoples' Hospital (a Mental Hospital) located in Wulumuqi City, by authorities from the Xinjiang "610 Office"(1) to receive mandatory "mental treatment." She was forced to receive various drugs without her consent and underwent psychological abuse for persisting in her belief in Falun Dafa. She was confined within a group of patients who had diagnosed mental illness. Due to the abuse she received, she could not speak normally, and was frequently abused and insulted by some male mental patients. Her situation, totally ignored by the hospital staff, was later witnessed by visiting Falun Dafa practitioners in August and September of 1999. Later, the hospital learned that the visitors were also Falun Dafa practitioners and refused their request for a second visit, out of fear of exposing their criminal treatment of Ms. Li.

Ms. Li Xianghong is now illegally sentenced to an 11-year prison term (or a 12-year term as indicated by another source) and is currently detained in Xinjiang Women's Prison (Xinjiang No. 2 Prison).

Case 2, Dafa Practitioner Liu Anhong, of Xinjiang Bayi Iron & Steel Group Company Is Mentally Abused

Mr. Liu Anhong is a worker of the Xinjiang Bayi Iron & Steel Group Company. Due to his hunger strike against forced labor and illegal detention and because of his continued practice of Falun Gong, he was chained onto a bed for over four months at the Xinjiang Changjie Forced Labor Camp. He was force-fed daily and beaten by prison guards Gu Jianhai, Ning Tao and Tian Hu. The other prisoners were punished for Mr. Liu's protest and had their merit scores reduced and prison terms extended to incite their hatred against Mr. Liu, so, they also beat him.

After Mr. Liu's release from the Changjie Forced Labor Camp in 2002, he was forced into the Wulumuqi No. 4 Peoples' Hospital (Mental Hospital) by authorities with the Xinjiang Autonomous Government "610 Office" and Bayi Iron & Steel Group Company's "610 Office." He was forcibly injected with drugs and forced to take pills that damaged his nervous system. After over three months of treatment, Liu Anhong's nervous system was severely damaged, resulting in lack of facial expression and slow brain activity. In August 2003, Liu Anhong was illegally sentenced again to a labor camp for telling the public the facts about the persecution of Falun Dafa and is now held in Xinjiang's Changjie Forced Labor Camp.

Some doctors at the Wulumuqi No. 4 Hospital unconditionally followed the orders from the Wulumuqi Police Department authorities and persecuted Dafa practitioners through drug injections and psychological torture. Their conduct was totally unethical, immoral and is in violation of law and common professional medical ethical standards. Up till this day, there are many mental hospitals that directly participate in the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners at the order of Jiang's political group. Here we strongly appeal to international human rights organizations to pay attention to this ongoing persecution toward Falun Dafa practitioners in China. We, Falun Dafa practitioners in Xinjiang and all kind people invite the World Psychiatric Association, World Psychiatric Congress, World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong and other international organizations to come to Xinjiang and investigate the above mentioned and other persecution cases of Falun Dafa practitioners.
