Facts of Persecution against Dafa Practitioners of Xinhe Township, Hanchuan City

April 6, 2004

(Clearwisdom.net) In December 1999, seventeen Dafa practitioners of Xinhe Township went to Beijing to appeal. However, in the Hanchuan Liaison Office in Beijing, they were beaten and forcefully searched by Li Cuifa and other policemen. Liu Aiguo, the political commissar of the City Public Security Department at that time, extorted 4,000 Yuan(1) in total from the Dafa practitioners. After the Falun Dafa practitioners were taken back to their hometown, they were beaten and interrogated with torture by Li Cuifa, Wang Xinnong, and Liu Jixiang. Three of the practitioners were beaten most severely. One of them was Zhang Huanxiang, a nearly 60-year-old woman. At the police station, Li Cuifa threw her to the ground and kicked her. He then pulled her up and punched her and beat her with wooden rods. When brought in for interrogation in the detention center, Zhang Huanxiang was punched and kicked again. Dong Aihua and Chen Yundi were separately beaten by both Wang Xinnong and Liu Jixiang; they were beaten so brutally that their faces were swollen and were covered with black and blue bruises. Zhang Huanxiang was violently kicked by Wang Xinnong simply glancing at him. The flesh of her lower leg tore and bled heavily, and the wound took a long time to heal. Each of the illegally detained Dafa practitioners were extorted for 4,000 to 10,000 Yuan. Four other practitioners were detained separately in Xinhe Township police station. Several hundred to 1,000 Yuan were extorted from each of them.

In December 2000, ten Dafa practitioners again went to Beijing to appeal. In Xinhe Township, two practitioners were illegally sentenced to three years of imprisonment, three practitioners were sentenced to one year of imprisonment or one and a half years of forced labor, five were detained for up to one year; and six were detained for up to half a year. One female practitioner resisted the illegal detention. Xiao, the detention center head, together with other police beat her brutally. Her head and face swelled from the beating and she could not eat. She fell unconscious and did not wake up for days. She had multiple internal injuries from the beating, but still she was shackled with chains that weighed 30 Jin (about 33 pounds).

Around the Spring Festival of 2001, the police of Xinhe Township kidnapped fourteen practitioners to a brainwash center and forced them to pay them money. Each Dafa practitioner had 500 Yuan but not less than 100 Yuan extorted from them. At the same time they frequently harassed and threatened practitioners' families. They fiercely pounded on the doors in the middle of the night to search their homes, causing terror for the elderly and the children of the practitioners' families. The elderly would shiver from the fright when they saw the police and police vehicles, and the little children would cry.
