As the UN Human Rights Commission Meets in Geneva, Ms. Wang Guofang Dies from Torture in China's Daqing City

April 7, 2004

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Wang Guofang, a 42 year old Falun Dafa practitioner from Longnan Leyuan area, Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, was illegally arrested in her hometown of Nehe and sent to Qiqihar Forced Labor Camp (also called Qiqihar City Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp). On March 15, 2004, she was persecuted to death as the United Nations Human Rights Commission was meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.

On March 15, 2004, her family received a phone call from the labor camp. They were told that Wang Guofang was being released and were instructed to come to the labor camp. When the family arrived, Wang Guofang was dead.

Her family saw deep handcuff marks on both her wrists and that the flesh on her chest was burned and discolored like a piece of meat. In deep grief, her family asked what had happened, the camp section head told them that Wang had died from heart attack and that during the "rescue process," the use of an electric baton had caused the burns on her chest.

Ms. Wang's family told him that there had never been even a single case of heart disease in their family history. Besides, Ms. Wang had been quite healthy before her arrest. The people responsible could not give any satisfactory answers.

It Was Hard to Believe That This Had Turned Out to Be the Last Time They Would See Ms. Wang Alive

Earlier, camp personnel called her family and told them to come to the camp to see her for the last time. With deep sadness, her mother went to the camp only to find her daughter quite healthy. There was nothing wrong with her. The family members were tricked to pay money for the visit. The camp personnel had hoped that Wang Guofang would be persuaded enough to be "transformed" to give up her belief in Falun Gong. During that period, three people surrounded her every day trying to persuade her to give up her belief. Yet, she was persistent in her belief and was unmoved by their actions.

As was reported by Minghui, Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp team leaders Zhang Zhijie and Wang Mei of the Eighth Brigade and Guo Li, captain of the Ninth Brigade, went to the notorious Masanjia and Wanjia Forced Labor Camps to learn their techniques for persecuting Dafa practitioners. On February 15, they had returned to Shuanghe and began their inhuman persecution of steadfast Falun Dafa practitioners.

Four persistent female practitioners were being persecuted to the verge of death. Male practitioners also suffered inhuman tortures. These three persecutors proclaimed that they would "transform" all the practitioners from that point on. It is apparent that Wang died as a result of the torture and brutality she faced in Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp.

History of the Persecution of Wang Guofang

On July 21 1999, Wang Guofang was getting ready to go to Beijing to appeal for the first time, she and three other Dafa practitioners had brought the tickets, but were stopped by the police in Daqing train station and they were detained in Yiyuan Police Station for over ten hours.

In October 1999, she was arrested in Tiananmen Square on her second appeal. She was charged with "disturbing social order" by the Daqing Security Bureau and was sent to the city detention center for one month. She was then sent to another detention center for half a month. Her family had to pay 2000 Yuan (1) for her release.

On December 23, 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for the third time. This time she practiced the Falun Gong exercises in Tiananmen Square. She was arrested and was sent to Taiyangdao detention area, a part of Daqing "610 Office" (2) in Beijing. She was slapped when she refused to answer questions. On December 28, she was sent back to Daqing Detention Center for over four months. During this period, because she continued to do the Falun Gong exercises, they beat her, scolded her, and did other physical punishments. They made her to walk from cell to cell with handcuffs and ankle cuffs on; this is the so-called "wandering the cells." In May, she was sentenced to one year of hard labor and was sent to the Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp. Because she persisted in her belief, she endured various cruel tortures: wore handcuffs; was locked up in small isolated cell (3); and was handcuffed and hung up in the air by the handcuffs (4) for over fifty days; she was deprived of sleep and adequate food. She went on a hunger strike as her only means of protest and was force fed so much that her mouth was bruised and her teeth broken. The officials also added four extra months to her prison term.

In October 2000, she was sent to Harbin Female Narcotic Rehabilitation Center where she continued to be persecuted. She was released in March 2001.

On December 23, 2001, she went to Beijing to appeal for the fourth time together with another practitioner. They held a banner reading, "Falun Dafa Is Good". Many representatives who just walked out of the Great Hall of the People saw her display of compassion. Later, she held up the banner again in crowded area in Tiananmen Square and shouted out: "Give justice back to Our Teacher and give justice back to Dafa." On the morning of 28th, they went back home safely.

Wang Guofang had been actively involved in validating Dafa and saving sentient beings. In an effort to save the folks back in her hometown, she brought a large amount of Dafa material back to Nehe. Later, police from Nehe and Yiyuan Police Stations in Daqing City went to her shop and arrested her and took her to Nehe. In 2002, she was again sent to Qiqihar Forced Labor Camp.

On March 15, 2004, she died from the persecution she received in Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp in Qiqihar.
