(Clearwisdom.net) Since July 20, 1999, under orders from Jiang Zemin and lured by personal fame and gain, the Political and Judiciary Committee and the Police Department of Donggang City have savagely persecuted many Falun Gong practitioners. More than one hundred practitioners have been jailed. Three have died from torture. One is permanently disabled. Dafa practitioners were extorted tens of thousands of Yuan, (1) had their homes ransacked, and they were subjected to fines, detention and brainwashing. Some practitioners were forced to give up the practice and later died from relapses of old illness. Many practitioners refused to yield to the evildoers and were forced out of school or fired from their jobs. Many were compelled to escape from home and went into hiding. Many families were broken up. In the following we will present a few persecution cases in Donggang City.

On July 20, 1999, Ms Wang Daxin from Gushang Township went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. In August, Donggang City police in Beijing arrested her. Wang Daxin's university entrance test score had been announced at that time, and she passed the online admission requirement. The police released Wang Daxin after they accompanied her back to Donggang. On September 9, however, the police and staff from the Political and Judiciary Committee came to try to force her to give up Falun Dafa as a condition for university admission. Wang Daxin refused. She told them that Falun Dafa is great, and there is nothing wrong with practicing "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." Yang Feng, head of the political and judiciary committee, told policemen Song Xiaohe, Zhou Hengchen and Wang Chengyi to detain Wang Daxin for 15 days in the Donggang City Detention Center. Later she was sent to the Donggang City Jail for another 30 days. Because of this persecution, Wang Daxin lost her opportunity to study at a university.

In September 1999, Dafa practitioner Wang Qiang from Tufang Village in Qianyang Township went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. He was arrested by Donggang City police and later sent to Donggang City Detention Center, where the police encouraged criminal inmates to violently torture and humiliate him. In October 1999, Donggang City police sentenced Wang Qiang to two years of forced labor and later sent him to Dandong City Forced Labor Camp.

The labor camp police used all kinds of torture to try to force Wang Qiang to "reform" and renounce Falun Dafa, but he firmly refused. The police put Wang Qiang into the "strictly monitored" cell and tortured him even more severely. The police deprived Wang Qiang of sleep and forced him to squat all day long in this cell. Wang Qiang's legs were badly swollen. To protest the abuse, Wang Qiang went on a hunger strike. The police tried to force-feed him, but Wang Qiang refused to open his mouth. The police knocked out Wang's front teeth while prying his mouth open. Blood spurted out of his mouth. The pain was so intense that Wang Qiang passed out. One month later, Wang Qiang was released from the "strictly monitored" cell. By now he had lost so much weight that he looked like a skeleton. He suffered a mental collapse. Doctors from Dandong No. 203 Hospital said that he had "muscular nerve necrosis" and "severe mental illness." In October 2000 Wang Qiang was released on medical parole. Back home, Wang Qiang's condition improved. He indicated that he wanted to resume Falun Gong practice and study. Policemen Song Xiaohe, Zhou Hengchen and Wang Yunlong came again to torment him. Wang Yunlong was later promoted to chief of the Political and Security Section. They forced Wang Qiang's family members to beat him up, driving him into mental collapse for the second time. Wang Qiang is now reduced to a nearly vegetative state. He has lost the ability to live a normal life.

Dafa practitioner Ms. Li Hong of Dadong Township went to Beijing to appeal in early 2000. She was arrested by Donggang police and sent to a mental hospital, where she suffered severe mental trauma. After she was sent back home, the police forced her family to restrict her freedom. Her family put her under virtual house arrest and would not let her leave. She could not contact other Dafa practitioners. In May 2000, Li Hong suffered a mental collapse due to the constant harassment and died from drowning.

Dafa practitioner Zhao Kaisheng, 61, was a resident at Jinjiang Street, Dadong District, Donggang City, Liaoning Province. The police unlawfully detained him on September 10, 1999. His family bailed him out later with a 2,000 Yuan "deposit." In June 2000 he was again detained for 15 days without being formally charged.

On December 13, 2000 he was arrested again following a trip to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. He suffered 70 days of persecution in a detention center and the police confiscated 10,600 Yuan from him.

On February 21, 2001 he was sentenced to two years of forced labor at the Dandong City Forced Labor Camp, where he suffered all kinds of inhuman treatment. He was released after his health had rapidly deteriorated. Shortly after his release, local police began to frequently harass him at home. Having suffered serious physical and mental torture, Zhao Kaisheng's health continuously worsened. He died on April 23, 2002.

On July 1999, the Party Legal Office and the police in Donggang tried to force Dafa practitioner Wang Yuanjing to give up practicing Falun Dafa and ordered him to "reform" his wife Liu Yanjun. The police threatened to fire both of them from work if they refused to cooperate. Faced with such tremendous pressure, Wang Yuanjing became ill with stomach cancer. On August 1999, Liu Yanjun accompanied her husband Wang Yuanjing for a medical check-up at Beijing's No. 301 Hospital. Policeman Wang Yunlong stopped them at the Dandong City Train Station. Wang Yuanjing explained the reason for going to Beijing and showed him the official referral letters from his employer and from the City Public Heath Department. Still, Wang Yunlong refused to let them board the train. He said, "The authorities ordered that you must not go to Beijing!" Facing such a ridiculous demand, Wang Yuanjing decided not to comply. He pushed the police aside and got onto the train.

The Political and Judiciary Committee and the Police Department of Donggang City immediately dispatched Director Li from the Party United Front Department, Wang's employer, and Wei Jingde from Donggang Number Three Middle School, Liu Yanjun's employer, to fly to Beijing. That night, Wang Yuanjing, who had arrived in Beijing, learned that Donggang police also threatened his friend who helped to arrange the hospital visit. Wang became so worried that his situation worsened rapidly. To avoid causing trouble to his friend, Wang Yuanjing decided not to visit the No. 301 Hospital, and that he would return to Donggang the next day. Director Li and Wei Jingde met him at the Beijing train station. Seeing that Wang was extremely ill, the two men held Wang's arms and helped him onto the train. Wang died shortly after he returned home.

In December 2000, Liu Yanjun and other Dafa practitioners went to Beijing to appeal. Song Xiaohe, deputy head of the Political and Judiciary Committee, personally traveled to Beijing to arrest Liu Yanjun. Dozens of other practitioners were also arrested. Liu Yanjun and other Dafa practitioners were taken to a hotel in Beijing, which was used as a makeshift detention center by the Donggang City government. The policemen who traveled with Song Xiaohe tortured Dafa practitioners cruelly, causing Liu Yanjun to suffer partial paralysis. Using the same method they had used to abuse practitioner Liu Mei, Song Xiaohe and Donggang police charged Liu Yanjun as "organizer of a Beijing appeals group" and handed her over to the prosecutor. Donggang City Court later sentenced Liu to six years in prison and sent her to Dabei Prison in Shenyang City.

In addition, officials from Donggang Education Department fired Liu Yanjun from her position at a middle school. After that, Liu Yanjun's 14-year-old daughter was the only one left at home. Liu Yanjun's family was thus destroyed. The persons responsible for this case are: Song Xiaohe, Zhou Hengchen, Wang Yunlong, Yang Feng and Liu Hua.

Persecution of practitioners Liu Mei, Zhang Wei, Liu Meirong and Zhu Changming

In 2002, under direction from the Political and Judiciary Committee and from Donggang Police Department, officers Liu Hua, Zhou Hengchen, Wang Yunlong and Wang Yuanjun intensified the harassment of Dafa practitioners. In April 2002 they arrested practitioners Liu Mei, Zhang Wei, Liu Meirong, Zhu Changming and four others.

The police subjected practitioners Zhu Changming, Li Xinliang, Lian Ping to barbaric torture and inhuman abuse. Dozens of policemen dispatched by Zhou Hengchen and Wang Yunlong tortured practitioner Liu Meirong so badly that she lost consciousness. Later, Donggang City Court sentenced Liu Meirong to three years in jail and sent her to Shenyang Dabei Prison. Her crime: they found a Falun Gong truth-clarifying flyer in her home.

After the police abducted her, practitioner Zhang Wei escaped with the power of her righteous thoughts. To capture her, Donggang police staged a manhunt. Zhou Hengchen ordered the police to arrest a friend of Zhang Wei's and later Zhang Wei's husband. Zhang's husband was tortured so badly that he almost died and was hospitalized. Three months later, Zhang Wei was arrested again. While in detention, Zhang Wei went on a hunger strike to protest. The police tortured her with forced-feeding. After frequent tube insertion, Zhang Wei's throat was too swollen to allow a tube to go in. To save themselves the hassle, the police just left a tube in her throat. One month later, Zhang Wei had become severely emaciated and she was near death. Ignoring her condition, Donggang police department sent Zhang Wei to the Shenyang Dabei Prison.

After police head Zhou Hengchen issued the arrest warrant, policemen Wang Yunlong, Liu Wenquan and another dozen policemen took practitioner Liu Mei away. At the time of the arrest, the policemen forced Liu Mei into the police car roughly and recklessly, not even waiting for the car to stop. Liu Mei lost her balance and dropped to the ground. She was knocked out instantly. Wang Yunlong and others threw the unconscious Liu Mei into the car and drove away.

Doctors later diagnosed Liu Mei with a severe concussion. After Liu was arrested, she began to suffer a prolonged high fever. On the second day following her arrest, police transferred Liu Mei to the first branch of the Dandong Police Department. The police there tortured her with all kinds of methods to force her to give up Falun Gong. They stripped off all her clothes except her underpants. They used electric batons to shock her. They used rubber clubs to hit her head until she passed out. After four months of torture and detention, Liu Mei's health deteriorated severely. Her lung functions were drastically reduced, probably due to the prolonged high fever. Even under such dire circumstances, the police refused to allow her to undergo medical treatment. They didn't inform her family and even denied their request to visit her.

In August 2002, after repeated appeals from Liu Mei's family, she was escorted back to Donggang for an exam in the hospital. After Liu Mei's family pre-paid the hospital 400 Yuan, they began the medical check-up, but the hospital staff kept asking for more money during the process. Liu Mei's situation was extremely serious. She suffered a high fever, but part of her arms and legs were ice-cold. The exam was not completed in one day. The hospital told them to return the next day. They would then check her stomach in the morning with a gastroscopy examination. The next morning, though, when the family members arrived, Liu Mei was gone. Family members went to the detention center and found out that the Donggang police had already secretly sent her to the Shenyang City's Dabei Prison.

Her relatives questioned, "Liu Mei was very ill. Her check-up was not yet completed. Why was she transferred?" Director Wang of detention center said with a straight face, "Liu Mei isn't ill. Everything is fine." At that time, Liu Mei was undergoing an exam at Dabei Prison, revealing that Liu suffered from tuberculosis. Dabei Prison refused to accept Liu Mei based on this condition and she was sent back to Donggang. Even then, the police still refused to release her to seek medical treatment. Fearing the contagious disease, both detention centers in Donggang and Dandong refused to take Liu Mei. Then Donggang police sent her to the Fengcheng Detention Center, without any concern for her life. Fortunately, someone informed Liu Mei's family. They strongly demanded to take her back. The police gave in and released her to her family. In November 2002 Donggang police again sent a seriously ill Liu Mei to Shenyang City Dabei Prison's Female Branch, where she suffered inhuman torture. On March 10, 2004, Liu Mei's relatives finally got an opportunity to visit her. By then, she was skin and bones and fighting for her life.

People like Liu Mei and several hundred thousand Dafa practitioners in China who are in detention centers, forced labor camps and prisons are suffering from insidious persecution. Their only "crime" is their belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" and their pursuit to live a morally upright life and their firm insistence to tell people, "Falun Dafa is great!"

In recent years, no matter how badly they have suffered in the persecution, Dafa practitioners in Donggang never stopped in their efforts to clarify the truth of Falun Dafa to people. They keep on telling people the facts of the persecution. They compassionately tell people that good will be rewarded and evil will be punished.

Since May of last year, several dozen practitioners were arrested in Donggang. On March 15, 2004, police again arrested practitioners Pan Guizhen and Zhao Xiufang from the Beijingzi District.

We appeal to everyone to stand up and support the Falun Dafa and Dafa practitioners. Please help Liu Mei and other Dafa practitioners.
