In Memory of Falun Dafa Practitioner Mr. Yao Yaoyuan

June 17, 2004

(Clearwisdom.net) June 6, 2004, is the first anniversary of your passing away. We miss you very much.

In 1998, you learned Falun Dafa. Before practicing Falun Dafa, you were weak and had often been ill. You were searching for the true meaning of life. When you came across Falun Dafa you knew that it was what you had been looking for.

On July 20, 1999 Jiang's regime began its crackdown on Falun Dafa. You went to the Hubei Provincial Government to appeal for the right to practice Falun Dafa.

In 2000, you went to Beijing with your fellow practitioner but were spotted en route and intercepted in Zhumadian, Henan Province. Back in your army unit, you were forced to attend the propaganda "study sessions," and your girlfriend in Wuhan City asked you to renounce your Falun Dafa practice. However, you resolutely chose to keep practicing. Then, you were forced to quit the Party, leave the army, and were expelled from public employment. By the time you were only 28 years old you had already become a Deputy Battalion Commander. However, for your belief in Falun Dafa you let go of the fame and personal gain that other people dream about having. You were fired from your job at the Wuhan Ordnance Academy and dismissed from the Party and the army. You were sent back to your hometown in the countryside of Hunan Province. All you had in your luggage were a computer and a boxful of books.

On February 23, 2001, the police took you from the Niumasi Police Station in Shaodong County to the brainwashing center at the Party School of Shaoyang City. At the time you were wearing your army uniform. They said that you were an expert with computers. No matter what the problem was, you could always solve it. Even those who arrested you admired your knowledge and skill. Once, the person who was assigned to watch you allowed you to browse the Internet at an Internet bar because he wanted to see your skills with a computer. As soon as your fingers danced on the keyboard each of the keys turned into a musical note.

One day the brainwashing center asked the detainees to write an essay on "The relationship between me and those who helped to educate me." Your essay did not contain the words "help to educate." Even the person in charge of the brainwashing center praised your honesty, saying that he did not think that what they had done was "help to educate." He said it was only a test.

On April 3, 2001, you were very moved when you saw that Falun Dafa practitioners did not fear death when protecting Dafa books. Later, when the city sent people to investigate the incident you shouldered all the responsibility.

In October 2001, in order to resist those that persecute Falun Dafa, you and several fellow practitioners wrote a letter asking the head of the brainwashing center, Li Qiling, to stop persecuting Falun Dafa and to unconditionally release all of you. Every practitioner signed the letter. The "610 Office" (1) tpersonnel of Shaoyang City were terrified when they read the letter. On the second day, Director Liu of the "610 Office" and a section leader, also named Liu, went to the brainwashing center. This clearly showed how the power of righteous thoughts could frighten the evil.

In November 2001, to resist the evil persecution, you went on a hunger strike (did not take food and water) for four days and five nights. Even though you were extremely weak, Section Head Li of the Shuangqing District Police Sub-bureau, took you to Shaoyang Detention Centre where you were locked up for 15 days. All this was under orders from Liu from the City "610 Office."

After a series of detentions, you experienced a lot of mental pressure. Your aging parents requested that you give up the Falun Dafa because they could not understand you, and you felt very sad and sometimes a bit angry. When you were released from the forced labor camp, after experiencing the inhuman persecution, you looked inside and found that your feelings of sadness and anger indicated that you were not cultivating well.

At the year-end summing-up meeting of the Shaodong County Political and Legal Commission at the end of 2001, the Commission said that it would send four Falun Dafa "diehards" to the forced labor camp and you were one of the people chosen to go.

On February 2, 2002 you and several other practitioners were escorted from the Shaoyang Brainwashing Center to the Shaodong Drug Rehabilitation Centre.

On February 7, 2002 you were taken to the Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp in Hunan Province. You refused to accept the unjustified forced labor, so you applied for reconsideration. Your attitude was clear-cut and your belief in Dafa was steadfast. In May, Mao Wei, Political Instructor of the No. 7 Division, sent you to the No. 9 Division where you suffered extreme mental tribulations. It was learned that you seldom talked. In the forced labor camp you were not allowed to wear your army uniform.

On January 30, 2003, the day before the Chinese Spring Festival, you, who suffered both physical and mental persecution, were released from the Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp and went back home. There you began to cough up blood and your family took you to the Shaodong People's Hospital for emergency treatment. When you came back from the hospital you continued to hand copy the Falun Dafa books.

During the process of your Fa study you recalled that you would become angry very easily when you were persecuted. I really felt your honesty and kindness, and felt the fundamental changes in you. At that period of time you were always analyzing your shortcomings.

In May 2003, your health went from bad to worse and you were extremely weak as a result of the long period of maltreatment in detention. You coughed up blood all the time and so your relatives sent you to the Shaoyang Central Hospital. Even in the hospital you still clarified the truth of Falun Dafa and the persecution to the people there.

On June 6, 2003 you suddenly passed away. According to the hospital, you were diagnosed with tuberculosis. Your body was cremated.

Though the evil has taken away your physical body, your spirit will live forever.

Heshi!

Written on the first anniversary of Yao Yaoyuan's death.
