News from Dafa practitioners in Fushun City on May 24, 2004: Dafa practitioner Zhang Jinsheng from Qingyuan County was sent back to Qinyuan County's Dashagou Detention Center after being detained for two days at Fushun City's Police Department. A policeman from Qingyuan County said, "Zhang Jinsheng's skull was fractured, but Qingyuan County Police did not do it!" At present, police do not allow family members to visit him. Zhang Jinsheng was also interrogated by personnel from the No. 1 Section from Fushun City's Police Department and from Qingyuan County's Police Department.

2. [Tianjin] Dafa Practitioner Ms. Ping Yurong on Hunger Strike at Tianjin City's Female Forced Labor Camp to Protest Extended Prison Term
Dafa practitioner Ms. Ping Yurong is a resident of Lutai Town, Ninghe County. She started to practice Falun Dafa in 1995. Ping Yurong has been detained at a forced labor camp for three years. As she refused to give up her belief and write a so-called "Guarantee Statement,"(1) the forced labor camp thus extended her term numerous times.

3. [Zhangping City, Fujian Province] Practitioner Lai Jiyan Arrested in Xiamen City for Carrying Truth-clarifying Materials
News from China on May 20, 2004: practitioner Mr. Lai Jiyan (also called Lai Tuzhao) formerly from Zhangping City is a resident of Chankeng Village, Xinqiao Town, Zhangping City. He was sentenced to forced labor simply because he practices Falun Gong. At the beginning of May 2004, just one year after he was released, he was once again arrested for carrying truth-clarifying CD's while going to Xiamen City for work.
4. [Leshan City, Sichuan Province] Nine Dafa Practitioners Recently Sent to Forced Labor Camps and Brainwashing Centers
During the past several days, nine practitioners from Leshan City including Li Fengqi, Lin Lisha, Wang Zhengmo, Liu Pinxiu, Yin Haiyan, Xiang Quanguo and Yang Minghua were arrested. Most of them were sent to the Nanmusi Female Forced Labor Camp. Xiang Quanguo and others are being held at the Midtown Brainwashing Center in Leshan City.
5. [Meishan City, Sichuan Province] Two Dafa Practitioners Arrested for Clarifying the Facts of the Persecution
On April 28, 2004, practitioner Hu Xiurong and Chen Suying from the Dongpo District were arrested while clarifying the facts of the persecution to people in the Funiu District. They are still being held at the Dabei Street Detention Center, Meishan City.

6. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Huang Fen Arrested for Distributing Truth-clarifying Materials
Dafa practitioner Ms. Huang Fen of Chinese Institute of Nuclear Power in Chengdu City was arrested and has been detained for over three months. Her family's visit has never been approved.
7. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Practitioner Zeng Kejian Arrested and Sent to the Taojialing Brainwashing Center
Personnel from the "610 Office (2)" and sections from Judicial and National Security Section from Hanyang District's Police Department, Wuhan City arrested practitioner Ms. Zeng Kejian. On the morning of May 17, 2004, personnel from the National Security Brigade from the district's police department worked in conjunction with personnel from the Wulidun Police Precinct and the Wulidun Street Administration Office and forcibly put Zeng into a car and took her. Now Zeng Kejian is being held at the Taojialing Brainwashing Center that is next door to the Hanyang No.2 Detention Center. In the evening, those personnel deceived Zheng's daughter, a middle school student, into giving them the house key. They then searched her home and confiscated all Dafa books and truth-clarifying materials. Now the daughter and a one-year-old baby are left at home without care.

8. [Yongji County, Jilin Province] Practitioner Yu Jing Arrested for Telling the Facts of the Persecution on a Train
Yu Jing, over 30 years old, lives in the Fifth Community of Xinfang village, Wanchang Township, Yongji County, Jilin Province. While taking a train to relocate to Xinzhao in Heilongjiang Province on May 12, 2004, this practitioner told the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong to ordinary people. Someone reported this and the practitioner was arrested at the Xinzhao railway station. Now Yu Jing is being held in Qiqihar as "administrative detention."
9. [Changbai County, Jilin Province] Li Xingyue Arrested
During the morning of May 25, 2004, policeman Liu Yufeng from the National Security Brigade from Changbai County's Police Department took group of officers with him and arrested practitioner Li Xingyue from Changbai County's Vocational High School, Jilin Province, at Li's school. They confiscated all the Dafa books and cassette tapes from Li's home without producing a search warrant. Li Xingyue is currently being held in Changbai County in violation of the Chinese constitution.

10. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Qin Shulan Detained in Dalian City's Forced Labor Camp with Extended Term
Ms. Qin Shulan is a practitioner from Dengshahe Town in Dalian City, Liaoning Province. In May 2001 she went to appeal for Falun Dafa in Beijing. Since then she has been detained in Dalian City's Forced Labor Camp for three years. The prison term expired May 11, 2004, yet she is still being detained now, with an unlawful extension of her detention term.
11. [Quzhou County, Hebei Province] Dafa Practitioner Zhang Qingchao Arrested
Mr. Zhang Qingchao was deputy secretary for Huaiqiao Township's Party Committee, Quzhou County. For refusing to renounce Falun Gong, he was forced to leave the unit. Not long ago he talked with the secretary of the Party Committee, Wang Kunzhong, and requested to come back to work. Wang Kunzhong said they needed to talk about it. A few days later they notified Zhang Qingchao to come back to work. Zhang Qingchao went back to office on May 19, 2004, but the next day, persons from Houcun Town's Police Precinct including Niu Mingtang arrested him and put him into the county's detention center.

12. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Chang Shuxia Arrested While Posting Truth-clarifying Materials
In May 2004, Changchun City Police Department colluded with a so-called "special case group" appointed by the city's "610 Office" to arrest Falun Gong practitioners in Yushu City. Some police officers became plainclothes detectives. Also, the Yushu City police authority hired jobless persons to patrol and stalk Dafa practitioners everywhere to arrest them. Dafa practitioner Chang Shuxia from the city was captured when she went out to post truth-clarifying materials at night.
13. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Wanjia Forced Labor Camp Authorities Use Torture and Threats to Force Practitioners to Renounce Falun Dafa
Since July 20, 1999, Harbin City's Wangjia Forced Labor Camp in Heilongjiang Province has always brutally persecuted the detained Dafa practitioners. Lawless guards forced practitioners to curse Master and trample on Master's picture. They brutally tortured Dafa practitioners using all kinds of excruciating methods. Recently, the forced labor camp coerced Dafa practitioners whose detention term had expired to write "the three statements," (3) otherwise they would not release the practitioners.
14. [Heze City, Shandong Province] Xu Shuying and Two Other Dafa Practitioners Arrested
Dafa practitioner Ms. Xu Shuying often distributed truth-clarifying materials and clarified the truth about Falun Dafa to the public. Consequently, her motorcycle's number was reported and she was tracked. Thus, three fellow practitioners were arrested by members of Hezi City's "610 Office" and Mudan District's "610 Office." Ms. Xu was arrested and taken to a detention center because some truth-clarifying materials were found in her motorcycle.

15. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Luan Maoquan Imprisoned at the City's Detention Center for Distributing Truth-clarifying Materials
In May 2004, Dafa practitioner Luan Maoquan was arrested for distributing truth-clarifying materials and currently is being detained at Benxi City's Detention Center. His/her house was searched.

(2)The "610 Office" is an agency specifically established to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
(3) The "Three Statements": Created by the "610 Office," they consist of a "Letter of Repentance" stating that one is remorseful for having practiced Falun Gong, a " Guarantee Statement" to never again practice Falun Gong, appeal, or distribute information about Falun Gong, and a "Dissociation Statement" to declare a dissociation with Falun Gong, which includes a list of names and addresses of all family members, friends and acquaintances who are practitioners
