Facts of the Persecution
Ms. Zhao Meiyu, a practitioner from Shenzhen City, was abducted for the third time in May 2003, and was sentenced to seven years in prison. Her family is totally unaware of her current situation. This is the second time she has been imprisoned since she was illegally detained in a forced labor camp for one and a half years in 2000.
In December 2001, six practitioners and two of their non-practitioner family members from Nenjiang County distributed truth clarification materials at Nenjiang Farm of the Jiusan Agricultural Administrative Bureau. They were arrested by policemen there and detained in Jiusan Detention Center. The six practitioners went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention, and they were released. However, they were detained again shortly afterwards. In 2002, Ms. Chen Weijun received a harsh, eleven year sentence, and Ms. Dong Limin received an unfair thirteen-year sentence. They were both detained in the Harbin Female Prison. Ms. Wu Liming was forced into homelessness, and now no one knows her whereabouts. There is also no information on the other three practitioners.
Three male Falun Gong practitioners, Mr. Ruan Chuo, Mr. Huang Jianyu, and Mr. Li Haiqiang, from Taishan City, Guangdong Province were abducted on April 4, 2004. They were all sentenced to three years of forced labor and were sent to Sanshui Forced Labor Camp in Guangdong Province. Back in 2000 these three practitioners traveled to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Afterwards, they were given either two or three year forced labor sentences and then persecuted in Sanshui Forced Labor Camp until 2003.
Ms. Liu Fenglan was an engineer of the Forestry Design Institute of Shiyake City in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. She had previously suffered from many diseases, all of which disappeared after she began practicing Falun Gong. Since July 1999, when the persecution began, her family has been closely monitored by the police. When she attended a funeral in Fulaerji City, Heilongjiang Province, eight policemen followed along to monitor her. Since Ms. Liu Fenglan unwillingly gave up practicing Falun Gong under the intense pressure of the persecution, all of her old diseases have relapsed. Now she suffers once again from diabetes and hemiplegia. She takes injections daily to control the diseases.
Perpetrators and their Deeds
The facts about how policemen in Dingxi Prison torture Falun Dafa practitioners:
- The police extended practitioner Yang Faqiang's sentence, because he refused to give up his belief in Falun Gong. The extension expired in December 2003.
- In March 2003 practitioner Jin Jilin was transferred from Lanzhou Prison to Dingxi Prison. The policemen in Dingxi Prison used electric batons to shocked his face, neck, lips, and even the inside of his mouth for over 3 hours. This torture caused Mr. Jin's face to swell and his skin to peel off.
- Policemen in Dingxi Prison also utilize imprisoned common criminals to monitor the practitioners, and the practitioners are not allowed to communicate with each other. The police even incite the criminals to beat the practitioners.
