Sweden: Falun Gong Practitioners Protest Jiang Regime's State-Terrorist Acts in South Africa (Photos)

July 9, 2004 |   By a Swedish practitioner

(Clearwisdom.net) On July 1st, practitioners from Gothenburg and nearby cities gathered at the Chinese Embassy in heavy rain to protest the shooting incident that took place recently in South Africa.

On hearing about Zeng Qinghong and Bo Xilai's state visit to South Africa between 27th and 29th of June, three Swedish Falun Gong practitioners flew to South Africa to join local practitioners to appeal to end the persecution and prepare lawsuits against these two Chinese senior officials for their role in the persecution. They planned to go to the presidential guest house in the capital of Pretoria with practitioners from Taiwan and Australia the next day to hold a peaceful appeal.

However, around 8pm the next day, practitioners from Australia were attacked by gunmen on their way to the presidential guest house, and David Liang, the only one who was wearing clothes inscribed with ‘Falun Dafa' characters, was shot in his feet. The bones of one foot were shattered. The South African police believe it is a case of attempted murder. This is one of the most serious incidents overseas that Falun Gong practitioners have been subjected to and it has shocked the world's people. A great deal of foreign media have reported this incident.

Since July 1999, the ex-head of China, Jiang Zemin, has been obsessed with carrying out his genocidal policies against Falun Gong practitioners, which has led to at least 998 practitioners being persecuted to death in China. Among his many followers, Zeng Qinghong and Bo Xilai are two main accomplices.

To sabotage Falun Gong practitioners' peaceful protests, Jiang and his accomplices have used various insidious means:

During his visit to Germany in April 2002, Jiang and his followers threatened to stop the state visit if they saw Falun Gong practitioners. They also told German police many lies about practitioners. As a result, the German police applied a number of measures to limit practitioners' freedom and in a number of cases severely violated practitioners' human rights. Two years later, the German authorities apologized to Falun Gong practitioners officially for their improper conduct and exposed the lies of the Jiang regime to the public.

During Jiang's visit to Iceland in June 2002, under pressure, Icelandic police and airline refused to allow a number of practitioners to enter the border or board planes. After the unlawful conduct of the Icelandic authorities was exposed, thousands of kind-hearted Icelandic people spontaneously went onto streets to protest the violation of Falun Gong practitioners' human rights. They also apologized to practitioners in one of the largest Icelandic newspapers.

In May 2003, in fear of Falun Gong practitioners' peaceful appeal, the Jiang group pressured Thai police to to unlawfully detain a Swedish practitioner who was living in Thailand. The incident attracted wide attention from people around the world and triggered a diplomatic protest from the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Family members of practitioners who went to South Africa to appeal said that this shooting incident was a contemptible measure by the Jiang group, which fears to see Falun Gong practitioners' peaceful appeals. The terrorist act of hiring thugs to shoot practitioners is yet another measure the regime has taken in order to obstruct the filing of a lawsuit against the regime.

The Swedish Falun Dafa Association strongly condemned the Jiang group's terrorist act against Falun Gong practitioners in an announcement. The association also filed an appeal with the South African government, calling on the government to investigate this incident thoroughly and bring all criminals behind this incident to justice. Practitioners also hoped that more kind-hearted people around the world would step forward to condemn the persecution.
