(Clearwisdon.net) Zhang Liang, head of the Chongqing Tongnan County National Security Brigade, and the Tongnan County Law Court collaborated to secretly and unlawfully sentence Dafa practitioners Ms. Tan Changrong, Ms. Li Jianying and Mr. Lu Yuanjian. On the mornings of June 26 and June 29, 2004, the court convened without informing anyone. The collaborators schemed to put the practitioners on trial for a third time in a vain attempt to illegally sentence them.

Ms. Tan Changrong is 55 years old and a resident of Tongnan County in the Taian Township. On October 21, 2003, Ms. Tan was abducted from her retail shop and taken to the Tianyuanhua Brainwashing Center. She was not even allowed to lock up her shop when she was dragged away. After December 10, 2003, Luo Yonghong and Li Hengyi transferred her to the Number Two Police Station. There she was tortured for over 30 hours. She was kicked and punched, slapped across the face, not allowed to shut her eyes, forced to stand in one spot for a long duration, and handcuffed to a window by one arm while her toes barely touched the ground. She was in this painful position until she fainted. Even after she was unconscious, she was let down only to be splashed with cold water. After Ms. Tan came to, the torture continued. Her arms were swollen and numb. Several months later, her arms were still numb. Ms. Tan is still detained at the police station.

Ms. Li Jianying is 45 years old and a former employee of a pharmaceutical company. She lived at No. 077, Dapo, Tongnan County. On the night of November 3, 2003, the police, led by Zhang Liang, abducted Ms. Li. She was secretly transferred to the Number Two Police Station. The police officers of the Special Investigations Division were instructed to take turns torturing her. She was deprived of sleep for nine days. She was also handcuffed to the window by one arm, with her toes barely touching the ground. The pain was excruciating and her whole body trembled. The handcuff cut deeply into her flesh. Her arms and hands swelled and with no blood circulation, her hands lost feeling. The police officers did not stop torturing her until she fainted from the pain and her wrist was bleeding profusely from the cut by the handcuff. The police released her from the handcuff and splashed her with cold water. When they saw that she regained consciousness, they immediately handcuffed her to the window again. When she lost consciousness, they revived her, splashing her with cold water once again. The police repeatedly tortured her like this. After a few days, Ms. Li was transferred to a detention center. She was tortured until she could not walk. The skin peeled from her arms and the wounds were wide open. At the detention center, she was taken outside twice while blindfolded. On both occasions, the Special Investigations Police Officers kicked and punched her, torturing her for several days and nights until she was near death. Her whole body was covered with purple and black bruises. The inmates in the prison cell helped her to a bed to let her lie down. They shed tears when they saw her condition. The Special Investigations Police Officers inflicted all sorts of cruel torture on Ms. Li. At present, Ms. Li has again been transferred from the Maojiashan Female Forced Labor Camp to a detention center. Her hair has turned gray as a result of the persecution.

Mr. Lu Yuanjian is a resident of the Second Division of Shinian Village, Zitong Township, Tongnan County, Chongqing City. He is 48 years old. Before he began practicing Falun Gong, he suffered from severe stomachaches and headaches. He sought all types of treatments for his pain but without success. In May of 1998, Mr. Lu began to practice Falun Gong. After a few days of practicing, all his illnesses disappeared. Also, before he practiced, he was very irritable and often quarreled with his neighbors. He loved to drink, cause difficulties for others, and often abused his wife. After he began to practice Falun Gong, he strived diligently to live according to "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance," and to think of others first. This helped him improve his relations with his wife and neighbors. Mr. Lu stopped drinking, picking fights with others and abusing his wife.

In the evening of November 3, 2003, Lu Yuanjian was abducted by Zhang Liang and his subordinates and brought to the Public Security Department. He was then transferred to the Tongnan Number Two Police Station where he was brutally tortured in order to force a confession out of him. At the police station, the police deprived Mr. Lu of sleep for many days in a row; one of his arms was handcuffed to a window while his toes barely touched the ground, until he fainted from the excruciating pain. After letting him down and after he recovered, they again handcuffed him to the window. Whenever he fainted, he was taken down and splashed with cold water, and then handcuffed after he regained consciousness. This was repeated several times. He was also kicked and punched, and his moustache hairs were pulled out one by one. Mr. Lu was later transferred to the county detention center for further torture.

In December, 2003, Zhang Liang sent Mr. Lu to Xishanping, Seventh Brigade, Second Division. There the prison guards instructed drug addicts to torture him in many ways. His head was severely wounded and he was sent to the emergency room for more than ten stitches. Later, his body became extremely weak and he became emaciated. The police feared for his life and sent Mr. Lu back to the Tongnan County Detention Center.

It was reported that Mr. Lu Yuanjian was very weak when he appeared in court and he fainted, so the court adjourned. On the second occasion, the circumstances on his physical condition are not known. Ms. Tan Changrong shouted, "Falun Dafa Hao!" ("Falun Dafa is great!") in the courtroom.

On both occasions, the trial was held in secret and none of the practitioners' family members were informed of the trial. Mr. Lu's wife, Wen Ying, enquired at all possible sources about the trial. On July 5, after enduring many hardships, she managed to find the chief magistrate, Hu Gang and said: "Lu Yuanjian was formerly not engaged in honest work and used to quarrel and fight, yet you never bothered with him. Now that he has turned over a new leaf, striving to become a better person, you start to go after him." Hu Gang did not say a word.

The local Dafa practitioners are now collectively cooperating to find ways to rescue these detained practitioners. Fellow practitioners are earnestly urged to verify the facts in connection with these cases and to assist in the rescue effort.
