Slave Labor at the Second Detention Center in Pingxiang City, Jiangxi Province (Illustration)

(Clearwisdom.net) The staff members of the Second Detention Center in Pingxiang City, Jiangxi Province abuse their authority and persecute innocent Falun Gong practitioners. They also violate the country's law that prohibits slave labor and force the detainees to make Christmas lights.

The police compete with each other. They get bonuses based on the output of the detainees under their supervision. They forced the detainees to work day and night until 1:00am or 2:00am on average, and even until 4:00am occasionally. The detainees start working at 5:30 am the next day.

According to some detainees, there was a male Falun Gong practitioner in his 30's sent to the detention center around July 2002. The practitioner was very firm in his belief, so he did not cooperate with the authorities. He went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention. The police used pliers to open his mouth and force-fed him. According to the detainees who were on site, many of his teeth were gone. His mouth was full of blood. At that time, the practitioner who had not eaten for days was in critical condition. However, the detention center did not release him. At last the practitioner passed away. The detention center then sent his body to the hospital for so-called "emergency treatment."

The detention center also forced a female practitioner who went to appeal in Beijing to kneel down for hours in the snow during the winter, and tortured her physically and spiritually.

There was also a specific device used to torture people in the detention center. (See picture)

The police made practitioners wear the device and run. With 60-Jin (around 70 pounds) of iron fetters, it was hard to even stand for a while, let alone run. The police often stepped on the fetters, which would put pressure the bones and cause severe pain.
