Information about Wei Jiao and Wei Wan, Orphans of Falun Gong Practitioner Wei Chaozong of Hebei Province

Feb. 25, 2005 |   By a practitioner in China

(Clearwisdom.net) Two girls, Wei Jiao, 16, and Wei Wan, 10, are now living in the Special Child Rescue and Research Center at Sun Village in Beijing. They used to live with their parents, steadfast Falun Gong practitioners from Weijia Village, Wanli Township, Suning County, Hebei Province. Their father, Wei Chaozong, was persecuted to death because he refused to give up his practice of Falun Gong. Their mother, Du Yuqin, is serving a lengthy, illegal prison term.

Wei Chaozong, approximately 40 years old at the time of his death, was a Falun Gong practitioner originally from Suning County, Cangzhou Area, Hebei Province. He was arrested and sent to the Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp on May 1, 2002. There, he suffered three months of brutal persecution, and he died at home on August 10, 2002, right after his release. Family members went to the Cangzhou No. 2 Detention Center, where Du Yuqin, his wife, was then being held, and requested that she be allowed to attend her husband's funeral. But the police rejected their request.

In October 2002, the Yunhe Area Court sentenced Ms. Du Yuqin to eight years in prison. She is now held at the Taihang Prison of Mancheng County, Baoding Area, Hebei Province (mailbox 04, sub-mailbox 202, zip code: 072150).
