Feb. 27, 2005 |   By Zhu Er in Taiwan

(Clearwisdom.net) A lantern festival was held in Fengyuan, Taichong County, Taiwan on February 23, 2005. Among various lanterns, a special one with the words "Falun Dafa is great" caught the attention of many people. Balloons and bookmarks with the words, "The World needs Truth, Compassion, Forbearance" were also welcomed.

Despite cold weather below 10oC, Falun Gong practitioners from Taichong County, Changhua, Nantou, and Yunlin gathered together to read Dafa books, practice the exercises, spread Dafa, and clarify the truth. They also held an anti-torture exhibition to expose the Chinese Communist regime's various torture methods, including tying up, poking fingernails with sharp bamboo sticks, handcuffs and shackles, hanging people up, tiger bench, force-feeding, shocking with electric baton, forced labor for extended hours and so on. These tortures are being used in China to force Falun Gong practitioners to give up their belief in Truth, Compassion, Forbearance.

Some people were shocked at the cruelty occurring in the 21st century in China, which has the same language and race as Taiwan. Why is Chinese Communist Regime so wickedly torturing these peaceful people?

Kind-hearted people signed their names to support human rights and call for an end of the persecution. They wished that Falun Gong practitioners in China could return home, have their freedom and enjoy family gatherings during the lantern festival.

Falun Gong has spread to more than 60 countries and is recognized and welcomed by governments and people all over the world. During the festival, practitioners performed on the waist drums, and danced and sang songs that practitioners composed to show the beauty and grace of Falun Dafa. The practitioners wished that in next year's lantern festival there will be no persecution, violence and lies in China, and the Chinese people will be free.
