The Pingshan District Court in Benxi City Secretly Sentenced a Married Couple, Practitioners Mr. Liang Tielong and Ms.Tan Yajiao, to Long Prison Terms

March 6, 2005

(Clearwisdom.net) The Pingshan District Court of Benxi City, in Liaoning Province, secretly sentenced Mr. Liang Tielong to twelve years in prison and sentenced his wife, Ms. Tan Yajiao, to nine years. The following are the details.

Due to the persecution, and because he refused to give up his belief in Falun Dafa, Mr. Liang Tielong felt that he had no choice but to leave his home to avoid the ongoing persecution and possibility of arrest from home. Subsequently, Mr. Liang rented an apartment in the District of Pingshan with his wife, Ms. Tan Yajiao, who is also a Falun Gong practitioner. They printed and distributed materials that clarified the facts about Falun Dafa. On the night of September 18, 2004, policemen from Dongming Police Station abducted them and confiscated the printing equipment and materials from their apartment. They were detained in the City Detention Center for four months before being sentenced.

The day after Mr. Liang and Ms. Tan were abducted, their relatives went to their apartment to check on things. When they opened the door, they could smell strong tobacco smoke. They walked into the apartment and found four strangers smoking, drinking, and watching TV. The apartment was a complete mess. When Mr. Liang's father asked who they were and why they disregarded the law by breaking into his son's apartment, they responded that Cuidong Police Station sent them there to confiscate all the personal property in the apartment that was related to Falun Gong activities. The policemen ordered a big truck and loaded it with everything in the apartment, including a color TV, DVD player, computer, and cash. They did not present any warrant or leave any receipt for what they took. They also took all the relatives to the police station and questioned them until midnight. This is how the "People's Police" conduct themselves under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party. They did not allow the practitioners to hire lawyers. They did not even notify the families about the court session and refused to answer any inquiry by the practitioners' families.
