(Clearwisdom.net) On June 24, 2005, the Singapore Falun Buddha Society held a press conference entitled, "Defection, Persecution and Murder." Spokesperson Ms. Wang introduced the situation in which three Chinese officers, including Chen Yonglin and Hao Fengjun, quit their posts and defected to Australia, and exposed the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong both inside and outside of China. Ms. Wang also discussed Ms. Gao Rongrong's being tortured to death as an example to show that the persecution that has lasted for six years has never stopped for even one day; on the contrary, it has become even more horrible and insidious. She called on the kind-hearted people of Singapore and the media to express their concern over the persecution of Falun Gong to the Chinese Embassy in Singapore and to the Chinese authorities. Ms. Wang also called on the Singapore police system to protect Falun Gong practitioners' normal activities from being interfered with by Chinese spies, personnel from the 610 Office and public security personnel. Finally, she called on the Singapore government to adhere to its principles on Falun Gong issues. She urged them to stand up against the CCP's political intimidation and economic enticement, and asked them to refuse to participate in the persecution.
The other spokesperson, Mr. Lim, briefly gave examples of harassment of Falun Gong practitioners in Singapore in the past several years from the CCP's 610 Office and the Chinese Embassy. For example, spies' monitoring and taking photos of practitioners, refusing or creating difficulties for the Falun Gong practitioners of Chinese origin to renew their passports, exerting pressure on personnel of the bookstore that sells Falun Gong books, and the Chinese Embassy's holding photo exhibits slandering Falun Gong to poison the minds of people. Mr. Lim emphasized the fact that Singapore is not China, and the rights of Falun Gong practitioners in Singapore should not be harassed. Local media should uphold justice, and the Singapore government and the police should not allow the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong to extend to Singapore.
Lianhe Zaobao, "Sound of Hope" radio and other media outlets attended the press conference. Spokespersons further made detailed explanation on the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Singapore and presented different kinds of truth clarification materials to the journalists.
