Parents of Practitioners in U.S. Facing Prison Sentence: Appeal for Urgent Rescue

Sept. 18, 2005 |   By Zheng Wenli, New York, U.S.A.

(Clearwisdom.net) On July 8, 2005, at lunch time, police from the Zibo City National Security Department of Shandong Province and from the Binhai Police Department in the Shengli Oil Field went to my parents' house. They arrested my father, Zheng Ruihuan, and mother, Liu Yinglan, both of them Falun Dafa practitioners. They also confiscated my parents' computers, books and other belongings. Right now my parents are being detained at the Binhai Police Department in Dongying, Shandong Province. I heard that the law-violating police are planning to impose a secret trial and sentence them to over ten years in prison.

My father Zheng Ruihuan was born in February 1943 and my mother Liu Yinglan was born in July 1942. They were both senior electrical engineers but took early retirement in the beginning of 1996 from Jidong Oil Field in Tangshan City, Hebei Province. They began practicing Falun Gong in 1996 for health reasons. They cultivated themselves by following the principles of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance. Soon they achieved good health and contented minds. When the Communist Party began persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, their previous work unit made my parents the focus of their "reform" tactics. My parents were forced to turn in their Falun Gong books, write a guarantee statement, and attend brainwashing classes. Their daily life was grossly violated. Every day, persons from the Retiree Administration Office called to harass them and spied on their activities. My parents were told that they must get permission from the Retiree Office if they wished to travel anywhere. My parents later learned about many cases of Falun Gong persecution in China. Together with fellow practitioners, they began to clarify the facts and revealed the evil nature of the persecution to the public.

One day in 2002, a director from their local National Security Police Department went to my parents' house. The director told them that the police had found out that my parents were able to access some websites that the authorities had restricted. He demanded that my parents cooperate and confess to this. He threatened that if they refused to cooperate, the next visitors wouldn't be as polite as he was (meaning, "we will arrest you"). He also said that the National Security Police knew very well what their son (the writer of this article) is doing in the USA. To avoid further unnecessary trouble, my parents left their home and went into hiding.

They moved to Shengli Oil Field area in Dongying, Shandong Province, and rented an apartment there. After the Retiree Office found out they had left home, they stopped their pension check to terminate their only source of income. Despite the difficult circumstances, my parents contacted local Falun Gong practitioners and started to clarify the facts and reveal the evil persecution. On July 8, 2005, the police arrested them.

For the past six years plus, since the persecution began, the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China has never stopped. In the Shengli Oil Field alone, between January and June 2005, the police have arrested 27 Falun Gong practitioners.
