(Clearwisdom.net) The Second Annual Asian Festival was held in Tallahassee, on September 30. Falun Gong practitioners from Jacksonville and central Florida joined in the event. The practitioners demonstrated the exercises, performed on stage, provided information about the practice, and informed people about the ongoing persecution in China.
Many people expressed an interest in learning Falun Gong, and some, including a girl scout troop, had a lesson on the spot. The scout leader repeated the Falun Dafa principles -Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance - to the girls, making sure that they knew what the words meant, and pointed out the similarities with the scout principles.
A woman who does substitute teaching told us that she learned the first exercise, Buddha Showing a Thousand Hands, from the Falun Dafa Web site, and practices it when she has a moment at school. She finds that it makes her feel calm and balanced.
Many people who visited the Falun Gong booth stayed to talk in depth. Practitioners offered them the latest issue of "Falun Gong Today" that exposes the Chinese communist regime's use of Falun Gong practitioners as a source of live organs for its organ transplant industry.
Practitioners were among the groups invited to perform on stage. However, the event organizers said that they hadn't received the exercise demonstration CD that was supposed to be submitted with the application. The CD had the exercise instructions in English along with Teacher's voice. Practitioners offered a backup CD, but the sound crew had already downloaded an exercise demo from the Falun Dafa Web site. This one was much better quality - Teacher's voice could be heard loud and clear.
The following morning, a Korean woman who had stopped by the booth to inquire about the practice was waiting for practitioners at the local practice site. When the first practitioner to arrive got back in the car to park it better, the woman thought the practitioner was about to leave and hurried over to the car to say that she wanted to learn Falun Gong. The practitioner recognized her as the former owner of a small Korean restaurant and shop. In 1998, she had accepted a display of Falun Gong flyers in her shop. She didn't remember being introduced to Falun Gong at that time, but she smiled at the suggestion that she might have a "predestined relationship."
