BURNABY PLEASE REPLY TO BURNABY

March 31, 2006 PLEASE QUOTE: J06-6002129

Honourable Peter MacKay, PC, MP
Minister of Foreign Affairs
House of Commons
Ottawa, ON K1A 0A6

Dear Mr MacKay,

I am writing to raise concerns about recent reports regarding the treatment of Falun Gong practitioners who are being detained by the Chinese government in prison camps in China. I enclose a copy of a recent article on this issue from the Epoch Times International for your immediate information.

Many articles and reports compare the Falun Gong prison camps to concentration camps and the accounts of the alleged brutality are chilling. According to these reports, the Chinese government is actively harvesting organs from individuals, most of whom are Falun Gong practitioners, who have been detained in these camps. Allegations have been made that these prisoners are killed for their organs, which are then sent to medical facilities. These reports state that there are state regulations in place that legally allow the government to harvest organs from prisoners.

I am writing to ask what steps have been taken by our government to investigate these reports. If these allegations are true, I would ask that you take immediate steps to speak out against these atrocities on behalf of Falun Gong practitioners and other prisoners being held by the Chinese government.

I look forward to an immediate response on this urgent issue.

Sincerely yours,
