Bulgaria: Press Conference Reveals the Organ Harvesting in Chinese Labor Camps (Photo)

April 28, 2006

(Clearwisdom.net) On April 19, 2006, a press conference was held by the Bulgarian Falun Gong Association, revealing recent information about organ harvesting from live Falun Gong practitioners in Chinese labor camps.

The attendants from the national media, including a TV channel whose reporter conducted an interview with the practitioners for the evening news program and an NGO which posted detailed information about the press conference afterwards, learned about the atrocities of the Chinese communist regime.

In the press conference, it was mentioned about three witnesses of a secret death camp in Liaoning province where 6,000 Falun Gong practitioners were kept and killed for transplant operations and how witnesses stepped forward and contacted the international newspaper The Epoch Times. One witness revealed he knows of 36 other labor camps where Falun Gong practitioners are imprisoned and their organs are harvested while they are still alive.

At the Falun Gong practice site in downtown Sofia, passers-by could sign a petition calling for an end to the persecution against Falun Gong in China

Practitioners told the media that Falun Gong followers had become a comfortable target of organ harvesting because in China the killing of Falun Gong is not a crime and is reported as "suicide" by the authorities, according to the orders of the ex-communist leader Jiang Zemin.

Among the material given to the media, was a report from the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong, which gives extensive evidence of the increased number of transplantation operations in Liaoning province, including transcriptions of phone calls to hospitals which prove that Falun Gong practitioners are subjected to organ harvesting.

After the disclosure of the practice of organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners in China, Bulgarian practitioners organized several activities to raise awareness among the public: a peaceful protest with a hunger strike was held in downtown Sofia and an open letter was sent to the President of Bulgaria, the Premier, various ministries, governmental bodies and officials, NGOs, media, medical institutions and universities, as well as to the Chinese Ambassador in Bulgaria.
