(Clearwisdom.net) On July 4, 2006, Falun Gong practitioners from Oregon took part in the Independence Day parade in Hillsboro and were awarded second place in the category "Best Float."

It rained slightly before the parade. But when the parade started, the sun came out. The nice weather attracted more spectators.

In the Falun Gong practitioners’ entry, a big banner reading "Falun Dafa" led the Lion dancers. Both sides of the float were decorated with banners reading, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." On the top of the float, there was a transparent sail with Chinese characters for "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" and "Falun Dafa."
A little girl sat in a pink lotus flower on the float, and a practitioner dressed as a celestial maiden waved to the spectators. Two practitioners demonstrated the standing exercises, while two others demonstrated the sitting meditation. At the center of the float, a practitioner holding a cute boy waved to spectators, which made the spectators smile.
There were many children watching the parade, which has an 80-year history. Many spectators asked for the paper lotus flowers made by practitioners and some of them asked for fliers about Falun Gong.
