In Memory of Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Wang Yuhuan from Changchun City

Ms. Wang Yuhuan, about 60 years old, was a worker at a small factory in Changchun City. Prior to her practicing Falun Gong, she had developed various illnesses and had a short temper. Her many consultations with doctors all year long left her debt-ridden. When the cold winter came she had no winter shoes to wear. In addition, she had to take care of her handicapped mother. She and her mother lived in a cramped room without plumbing or heat. They used a small electric cooker to warm themselves and do some cooking. Ms. Wang Yuhuan was then in her forties, but looked very old.

As soon as Ms. Wang Yuhuan had received the book Zhuan Falun she read it all night, while in tears. She deeply understood that this was her chance to be rescued. She then took the path of practicing Falun Gong. Soon after she started her practice, her various illnesses disappeared and her bad temper became amiable.

At the time, practitioners went to the People's Square to do the morning exercises every day, and after work we went to a Fa-study group to study the Fa. Fa-study enabled Ms. Wang Yuhuan to learn more words, as her level of education was not very high. She was very diligent in studying the Fa and doing the exercises. After study and practice, she compassionately cared for her mother and read books to her. Subsequently, her mother no longer caused her trouble.

On July 20, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the Jiang regime began persecuting Falun Gong. From that date on we did meet very often, but I often heard news about her.

In order to clarify the facts about Falun Gong to the central government leaders and call for a stop to the persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. Wang Yuhuan went to Tiananmen Square in Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. As a result she was arrested, beaten and tortured many times. In recent years, when she was found clarifying the truth to people, police officials and Communist regime agents tortured her half to death. Ms. Wang compassionately explained the persecution facts to the policemen who detained her, and some policemen were deeply touched. The authorities had released her unconditionally many times. In the third open letter written by lawyer Gao Zhisheng to Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao, Mr. Gao enumerated the facts of the torture of Ms. Wang Yuhuan at the hands of the CCP, including many persecution details.

Ms. Wang Yuhuan considered her own safety the least of her worries, as long as what she did was for the good of exposing the persecution and clarifying the truth. She distributed truth-clarifying materials, hung banners, told people "Falun Dafa is good" in various public places, and persuaded people to quit the CCP. She even clarified the truth to people at one of her relative's weddings. People initially dared not listen to the truth about Falun Gong and did not let her speak about it. She used her wisdom when talking to people individually and also sang at the reception. With the cooperation of other practitioners, most of the songs at the reception were songs composed by Falun Gong practitioners. Many people dispelled their misgivings and renounced the CCP. From then on, some practitioners and she often took part in other practitioners' relatives' weddings. Once, after a wedding, they took a bus and went near a forced labor camp. The ordinary people in the area liked to listen to the song, "Falun Dafa is good," and personnel from the forced labor camp really felt they were under fire from all quarters. Ms. Wang Yuhuan's singing reminded people of a particular professional singer.

Encouraged by her example, many practitioners eventually began to explain the facts to people. Some elderly women in their sixties or seventies followed her. They accompanied her on long walks while she clarified the facts, exposed the persecution and awakened people's minds.

In recent years I met Ms. Wang Yuhuan several times. Despite being repeatedly tortured, she had regained her health within two weeks through Fa-study and doing the exercises. She walked like a young person, and her face was wrinkle-free.

A good person who believed in the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" was tortured to death by the CCP, simply because she exposed the facts of the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong. We will continue to reveal the atrocities of the CCP and explain the facts to people until the persecution ends. We hope that governments, groups from different countries, international organizations and all people of conscience in the world will recognize the CCP's evil nature and help stop the persecution.

Ms. Wang Yuhuan's Cultivation Experience Before July 20, 1999

Falun Dafa Has Rescued Me from the Abyss of Misery

I am Wang Yuhuan and I am forty-four years old this year. (Note: 1999)

Since I was young, I had been looking for the Buddha cultivation way, and I became a Buddhist in 1990. During the years I cultivated in Buddhism I had not obtained the genuine Fa, and my health was on the edge of collapse. I developed lobar pneumonia, nephritis with four plus signs, renal failure, heart disease, duodenal ulcer, anemia, rheumatoid arthritis, a mouth ulcer, enteritis, bronchitis, internal and external hemorrhoids, neurosis and amnesia. The most serious illness was acute uremia. When I experienced an acute episode one time, I went into a coma. The hospital declared that I was on the verge of death. However, my family members did not come to the hospital, so no one signed the hospital paper for me.

My classmates and colleague came to take care of me. The hospital head was shocked by my condition and used the best medicine to rescue me. I was thus spared from death. Later, when I went out to buy some medicine I passed out and fell to the ground twice. A passerby took me to the hospital for treatment. After I regained consciousness I went to my workplace. During the years of my illness I spent 20,000-30,000 yuan on medical fees. I had become a difficult case at my workplace. If I was in the hospital no one would take care of me. If I left the hospital and lived in the dormitory at my workplace, I was unable to take care of myself. I was 5' 3" tall, weighed 76 lbs., and was pale and ashen. When I carried water, I tied the pot on my neck with the rope and crawled in the yard. Once I had crawled to my home, only half a pot of water was left. I also suffered from severe hair loss. Amnesia caused me to have difficulty speaking, and my memory had deteriorated so badly that when I went out I was often unable to find my way back home.

I was bedridden and felt hopeless. However, I had always been looking for the way of Buddha cultivation. I shouted from my heart, "If I cannot find my great master, I will not be reconciled to death, and I vow to continue seeking." I shouted, "Master, where are you?"

Between 1992 and 1994 Master's law body gave me clear hints twice to learn Falun Gong. However, I was so deeply involved in Buddhism that I did not practice Falun Gong. In July 1996, my younger sister's neighbor suggested that I practice Falun Gong. She showed me Master's article "Enlightenment," and I saw golden sparks when I read the words.

I read,

"Amidst truth and falsehood, enlightening is important. How to distinguish them? There are bound to be exceptional people. "("Enlightenment," from Essentials for Further Advancement)

I immediately understood. I took the book Zhuan Falun with me and read it continuously from 4:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. the next day. I read it incessantly and was in tears. After reading Zhuan Falun I understood everything. I held Zhuan Falun in my arms and cried aloud, "Li Hongzhi is my Master! Master, it was so difficult to find you! All of my experiences in forty years, including expectations from childhood, studying Buddhism for over six years, the pressure from society and family members' verbal abuse, have led me to this precious moment!"

I have changed so much since beginning Falun Gong practice. Soon after beginning the practice, all of my illnesses disappeared and my hair became black and thick. When I worked I had the strength of a young man. One day the central heating at my workplace leaked, and water accumulated up to my knees. My colleagues had not yet arrived. I stood in the ice-cold water for more than two hours while cleaning it out and felt very well. My changes shocked all of my colleagues. The leaders at my workplace said, "In the past you were on the edge of death many times, and at that time you were our big problem and unable to carry a pot of water. It is so miraculous how you've changed." Due to my changes, many relatives and friends began to practice Falun Gong.

With my physical changes came changes in my mind. I had become serene and peaceful. When I sat in meditation, I saw my gong column and a big Fa boat in a lotus flower. As soon as I sat in meditation, I calmed down, and it felt as if my arms and legs were gone. Guided by the Fa, my xinxing and realm had greatly improved, and I increased my capacity for compassion. In addition, my way of thinking and viewpoints have also changed.

I live in a small, 6.5 square meter dorm-room in my workplace office building. The room is cold in the winter, like a freezer, and in the summer it is hot like an oven and unventilated. The workers in the boiler room put garbage and trash outside my window, and children also relieved themselves in front of my window. I cleaned all this up. Before the rearrangement of my work unit, workers had nothing to do but play mahjong. When they made a lot of noise I heard it, but paid no attention. Before that winter set in, I bought 220 lbs. of potatoes and pickled a jar of cabbage. Although my colleagues ate them up, I was not upset. But I felt it was difficult for me to pass the emotional tests that arose in my family. In particular, my mother tested me a lot.

My mother has six children, and she treated me the worst. I was beaten and abused, and felt hungry and cold since childhood. Sometimes my mother kept me standing in the snow for several hours. They made me do all the housework in my family. At noon, my younger sister's lunch included fried sausage or eggs every day. However, they never let me take food for lunch. Therefore, I resented my mother and felt that she treated me badly.

When I developed illnesses later in life, my brothers and sisters did not take care of me. When I invited my mother to come to my home she did not come. However, after I practiced Falun Gong, she liked coming to my home. When this happened, initially I felt it was unfair. Later, with deeper Fa-study, I understood that nothing was by chance and that it was caused by karma. I realized that I should let go of my resentment and treat others compassionately and be considerate of others. So I tried my best to take care of my mother. Mother developed tracheitis and emphysema and has difficulty breathing during the winter. She must eat food without any salt, so I cooked for her and ate the same bland food with her. I was laid off from my job and depended on 200 yuan from my sisters and brothers for a living, but my mother still wanted to eat delicious food, so I tried my best to satisfy her. I took care of her all the time. I did some cooking, helped her take medicine, emptied her bedpan, knelt on the ground to wash her feet and helped her to wash her hair. I was glad to take care of her.

With the improvement of my xinxing, everything changed. The office in the building moved, so the building is now quiet and clean, and no one damages my belongings. In addition, the room is now warmer in winter than before. As soon as my mother sees me sitting in meditation she moves to the other side so that I can sit in meditation on the bed. She no longer forces me to sit on the cement ground. Furthermore, she feels love for me. When my brothers give her money she saves it for me.

I have practiced Falun Gong for over two years. I have obtained the genuine Fa and understood what cultivation is. It is said that cultivation is hard, but I feel that being an ordinary person is harder than cultivation. Dafa has given me a new life and rescued me from the abyss of misery. Only by cultivating in the Fa will a cultivator obtain true happiness. Now I have finally found my genuine Master. I will cultivate to the end and follow Master to return to my true home.
