Dutch Newspaper Reports on Organ Harvesting Crimes in China

Oct. 7, 2007

(Clearwisdom.net) On October 4, David Matas, a Canadian human rights lawyer and coauthor of the report, "Bloody Harvest," an investigation into the allegations of organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners by the Chinese Communist Party, held a press conference in Amsterdam. On October 5, the Dutch newspaper Metro published an article with the headline, "Need a New Lung? Go to China."

The article reported that every year, there are thousands of Chinese people who lose their precious lives because their organs are harvested for organ transplant surgery. Perhaps this is because many American and Western Europeans are willing to pay high prices for a new lung or liver [from China].

Citing Matas' report, the article said that many Falun Gong practitioners have been arrested for no reason, detained in prisons, tortured, and many eventually lost their lives after their organs were stolen for sale for transplant surgery. According to the Chinese Communist Party, all organs used in Chinese hospitals or specialty hospitals come from death-row convicts who volunteer to have their organs harvested upon execution. Matas said that this claim is ridiculous [because the number of documented organ transplant surgeries each year is greater than the number of executed criminals]. He pointed out that there are about 8,000 Falun Gong practitioners who die or disappear every year in China.
