A Bright Smile in the Chilly Wind

It's getting colder daily in New York. While watching the pedestrians passing me, Teacher's words flash through my mind many times, "...all the beings have come for this Fa." ("Teaching the Fa at the 2003 Washington DC Fa Conference") I think perhaps many of them are waiting for this chance to be saved. Therefore, there was a sacred feeling filling my heart. I no longer felt cold, but a warm happiness enveloped me.

Tonight, after rushing as usual, I arrived at 7:05 p.m. at Lincoln Center. I came to this spot every night for the past month to spread the news about NTDTV's Spectacular show, so people with predestined relationships would hear about it. Not only on Sunday evenings, but also on other evenings, there are quite a few shows at the Lincoln Theater. There is the Metropolitan theater, New York Ballet theater, Lincoln Center and many other theaters in the area. The audiences who watch the shows are mostly from the Metropolitan New York area. They represent the upper class of Western society.

The 2007 Chinese New Year Spectacular sponsored by New Tang Dynasty TV will be held in a theater here as well. Therefore, this place doesn't seem foreign to me. Although I have been many to New York many times to participate in Falun Dafa activities, I had never come to this place. This time I came across my old friend Dalia from Israel. She is over 70 years old. Every time I come to New York we run into each other, and then do Dafa work together. This time, she told me about Lincoln Theater, "Now this place needs more people. Many people come here, and even some Chinese people." A ridiculous show, sponsored by the CCP is now playing at the Metropolitan Theater.

It seems that Dalia always comes here by herself. She comes twice a day, once in the morning and the other time in the afternoon. She came to New York to hand out flyers to people, most of whom are dressed well and have good manners. At the same time, she sends forth righteous thoughts. It took me no time to decide to come with her in the evenings. All my thoughts are on saving sentient beings.

When I said, "Chinese New Year Spectacular! Traditional! Authentic, Chinese Culture!" time after time to passersby, I received positive feedback from almost everyone. They tell me, "Wonderful! My daughter-in-law is Chinese." A very elegant lady was delightedly surprised and said, "My granddaughter is an adopted Chinese girl. I will pass this message to her." A well-dressed gray haired woman put a flyer careful into her pocket and said, "Well, I have many Chinese colleagues in my company, I hope that they will go with me to see this show."

There are many people, who after accepting the flyers ask some questions. They are really curious, "What day is the Chinese New Year? What year is it?" This demonstrated their interest in traditional Chinese culture. There are some who walked by, then turned around and came back to accept a flyer. There are very few Chinese people passing by, maybe less than 5%, but many of them happily accept the flyer. The Chinese people who come to the Lincoln Theater enjoy operas and ballets. They are a different kind of Chinese than the Cantonese people you come across in Chinatown and people from Fujina Province.

Within an hour, there were three people who told me that they would go and see our New Year's show. A gray haired couple said that the entire family would go to see our show, and they bought the tickets. A gentleman said that his wife had a colleague who is also her good friend. This friend is a professor at Harvard University and of Chinese origin. Therefore his wife bought the ticket to celebrate the Chinese New Year with her friend. "That's great, then, how about you?" I didn't want him to miss the chance. As soon as he heard what I said he burst into laugh, "Of course I will go with them, I am her husband!"

A young man said that he would celebrate the Chinese New Year with his girlfriend on February 14. This is the day when the first show was to be held. It happens to also be Valentine 's Day. I almost forgot about that.

What made tonight different than any of the other nights before was that I didn't see any other fellow practitioners in this huge Lincoln Theater area. It was as if I was the only person handing out flyers for the Spectacular. However I felt very cheerful in my heart.

A bright smile is lighting up my face. It melted the cold air. At the same time, it melted away the distance which set people apart. One group after another passed by me, and they all see the same scene. In the chilly wind, a face with a bright smile is greeting them, telling them time after time "Chinese New Year Spectacular, distinguished divine culture, perfect art performance, a great opportunity you should not miss." They slowly smile back at me and accept this special message, which conveys wonderful information.

Unnoticed, I looked up. There was the moon smiling serenely from the sky between the skyscrapers. I understood immediately -- Teacher was encouraging me. Being a Dafa practitioner, at this final critical moment, being able to assist the Teacher in rectifying the Fa, what an honor! And what pride is in this!
