What I Experienced in a Detention Center and Labor Camp

I am 55 years old. I was arrested twice for practicing Falun Gong and spent three years in a detention center and labor camp.

One day in May 2000, when three fellow practitioners and I were exchanging cultivation experiences, police officer Yu Xiaohe from the Sansheng Township Police Station in Beipei District of Chongqing City came and arrested us. We were taken to Liuyin Township Police Station, where we were handcuffed and not allowed to eat, drink or use the restroom. At midnight, we asked the police why they persecuted persons for practicing Falun Gong and believing in Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. We asked why they don't spend those efforts to arrest the real criminals. They did not know what to say. Our fellow practitioners and family members made efforts requesting our release. Finally the police extorted 1,000 yuan "bond" from them and released me.

On September 4, 2001, I was arrested and sent to Beipei Detention Center. I was stripped naked for inspection upon arrival. At the detention center, the police forced me to clean the restroom every day. I was forced to brush the toilet with a toothbrush and touch the filth with my hands. I had to do this every morning, noon and evening. My hands and feet festered after being soaked in dirty fluid for too long. In addition, all of the Dafa practitioners were forced to fold one thousand paper packaging boxes every day. We could not go to sleep before finishing the work.

One day several practitioners and I did the exercises together. A police officer found out and yelled at us. We sent forth righteous thoughts together to eliminate the evil controlling her, and she never bothered us again.

One time an inmate who was a gang leader asked me to rework more than 5,000 defective boxes. I told her that those were not my pieces and I should not have to do the rework. The inmate reported me to the guards. The guards called me outside in the freezing rain at 7:00 a.m. and forced me to bend down, with my fingers touching my feet. Many guards were there and the director of the center threatened to send me to an isolation cell. After a long time, I could not stand that way any longer and stood up. I kept reciting, "The Buddha-light illuminates everywhere and rectifies all abnormalities" ("Lecture Six" from Zhuan Falun) and the Fa Rectification formulas. Amazingly, the policemen dispersed, and I felt very warm despite the rain.

In October 2002, I was illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor and sent to Yongchuan Women's Prison in Chongqing. My 82-year-old mother was left at home alone as a result.

I was forced to cut my hair at the labor camp and the police took away my shampoo, notebook and pen. They also tried to "transform" me as soon as I arrived. The police assigned two criminals, a drug abuser and a murderer, to monitor me 24 hours a day. We had to squat on the floor when eating, and were punished if we did not eat quickly enough.

The place where I was forced to do slave labor was very hot in the summer. It was directly under the sun and next to an oven, and it often felt so hot that I could not even breathe.

Under the pressure, I did and said the wrong things and caused losses to Dafa. I resolve to study the Fa well and completely negate the persecution against Dafa practitioners. I will cultivate diligently and do well to make up for my own mistakes. I will do the three things well in assisting Master in the human world.

I Was Illegally Jailed for Two Months

I am 42 years old, and I was illegally jailed for two months for practicing Falun Dafa.

On September 19, 2001, the police broke into my home without a warrant and searched it illegally. Later police officers Tang Shenwen, Wang Wei and several others took me to the township government, saying that they would release me as long as I told them some fellow practitioners' names. I told them that I did not know anything. The police then sent me and another fellow practitioner to the Liuyin Township Police Station, where we were locked up in a dark and smelly cell overnight. The second day we were sent to the Chongqing Beipei Detention Center. The police pointed guns at us, and forced us to squat down when they body searched us. I was locked in a cell with all kinds of criminals. I told them that I was a good person practicing Falun Gong, and that I have not broken any laws.

We did not have enough food in the detention center, and were forced to fold 1,500 paper packaging boxes every day. We often had to work until midnight or early morning to complete the task. Several days before October, the police again asked me to tell them the names of fellow practitioners, threatening that I would be there forever if I did not say anything. I did not tell them anything and said, "We are good persons practicing Falun Dafa. I did not break any law, so why are you imprisoning me?"

I was released after two months.
