New York State Assembly Proclamation Honoring May 13th, 2007

as World Falun Dafa Day

Whereas, a great state is only as great as those institutions that perform exemplary service on behalf of their community, whether through unique achievement in professional or other endeavors, or simply through a lifetime of good citizenship; and

Whereas, Falun Dafa, which was first introduced to the world by Mr. Li Hongzhi in 1992, is a self-improvement practice rooted in ancient Chinese culture; and

Whereas, the core principles of Falun Dafa are Zhen, Shan and Ren (truthfulness, compassion and forbearance); and

Whereas, the physical, emotional and spiritual benefits of Falun Dafa have led to its spread throughout the 80 countries, where its practiced by more than 100 million people; and

Whereas, when practitioners of Falun Dafa adhere to Zhen, Shan and Ren, remarkable improvements in that person's health and mental well-being are said to occur; and

Whereas, in New York State, Falun Dafa practitioners have given free seminars in libraries, bookstores, community centers and senior centers; and

Whereas, while New Yorkers have enjoyed the benefits of Falun Dafa, the government of China has launched a campaign of persecution against the practice; now, therefore be it

Resolved, that I, State Assemblyman Peter M. Rivera, recognize that in Falun Dafa, we have a practice that promotes the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of its practitioners; and be it further

Resolved, that I, State Assemblyman Peter M. Rivera, issue this proclamation in honor of World Falun Dafa Day, May 13, 2007; and be it further

Resolved, that a copy of this proclamation be transmitted to all Falun Dafa practitioners in the 76th Assembly District.
