The Bureau of Education in Xiong County, Hebei Province Actively Persecutes Dafa Practitioners

May 19, 2007

(Clearwisdom.net) Recently, officials from the Bureau of Education in Xiong County, Hebei Province have started another round of persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in schools. They pressured everyone in the schools to write and sign a statement renouncing Falun Gong. They also specifically requested that everyone not talk to anyone about the persecution against Falun Gong during the 2008 Olympics.

The Bureau of Education in Xiong County has been persecuting Falun Gong since July 20, 1999. Every year, around politically sensitive dates, they release an order to each school that all teachers have to denounce Falun Gong and sign a statement. The Bureau distributed posters to all the schools that slander Falun Gong. Teachers who practiced Falun Gong and refused to write statements renouncing Falun Gong were monitored, interrogated and even taken to brainwashing centers. If the teachers refused to give up their belief, they were sent to forced labor camp.

The following are several cases of the Bureau of Education's participation in the persecution against Falun Gong during the past eight years.

1. Ms. Han Junmiao was illegally arrested, harassed and tortured until she died

Dafa practitioner Ms. Han Junmiao worked hard and never took advantage of others nor accepted bribes. The Bureau of Education, however, had police officers take her away from work and sentenced her to three years in a forced labor camp. Ms. Han was tortured brutally in the forced labor camp. She suffered greatly both physically and mentally and almost lost her life there. During this time, the school authorities removed her from her position. In 2003, after Ms. Han was released from the camp, the Bureau of Education had someone monitor her at home.

In the spring of 2005, in order to be able to make a living, Ms. Han asked the school authorities many times to let her resume work. The school leader would not accept her application due to pressure from the 610 Office. One day, the Bureau agreed to send her case to the 610 Office, asking for approval. The very next day, Li Chengchun and seven other people from the 610 Office broke into Ms. Han's home, arrested her and sent her to a forced labor camp. Ms. Han was able to return home after the camp refused to take her.

The relentless persecution interfered with Ms. Han and her family and they were not able to live a normal life, let alone practice the Falun Gong exercises. Ms. Han once said, "I don't remember how many times we were harassed after I was released from the forced labor camp. They either stand in front of my house to monitor me or break into my house at any time of the day. My family cannot live like that. My daughter didn't want to come home after school and she couldn't pay attention in her classes."

Under this tremendous pressure, Ms. Han's health deteriorated and she died on May 6, 2005, at the age of 53. She lost her life simply because she wanted to be a good person who speaks the truth and values morality.

2. Ms. Liu Qian died as a result of persecution two months after she started to practice Falun Dafa

On November 15, 2003, 12-year-old Liu Qian, who studied in the Gegezhuang Elementary School in Xiong County, was diagnosed with acute leukemia. Her liver and spleen were swollen and she had a high fever. She couldn't breathe and had extreme pain in her abdomen. Her lungs were filled with fluids and her white blood cell count was up to 62,000 per milliliter. Not very long after she was hospitalized, the doctor announced that her life was in danger and that she could not be treated.

Qian's family took her home and as a last resort, they read Zhuan Falun to her. Thereafter, Liu Qian's illnesses healed quickly and she started to practice Falun Gong. She learned how to ride a bike and her cheeks looked rosy and no one could believe that a doctor had once given up on her.

Liu Qian's parents took her back to the hospital and found that her white blood cell count was normal (4400 per milliliter). Her illness didn't return until January 17, 2004. Qian used to love to go to school. After she recovered from her illness, she knew that she could go back to school in the spring.

However, on the day that school started (January 17, 2004) the Bureau of Education ordered that students were not allowed to practice Falun Gong. The principal and teachers in the Gegezhuang Elementary School took Liu Qian to the principal's office and told her that she had to give up Falun Gong and write a statement. They wanted Qian to choose between school and Falun Gong. She chose to practice Falun Gong. The principal sent her home and expelled her from school.

The next day, when Liu Qian learned that they had expelled her from school, she cried and could not believe this had happened. She couldn't get over it and stopped practicing Falun Gong. On January 22, 2004, five days later, Liu Qian suddenly lost consciousness and died.

A young life with a bright future has been lost. Liu Qian was not allowed to live and be healthy and happy. The authorities of the Gegezhuang Elementary School were not even ashamed of what they did. They made all the children visit a room full of posters that slandered Falun Gong and used all sorts of vicious lies to brainwash these innocent children.

3. Ms. Zhang Xinyi was expelled from the Party, fired from her job, and sent to a forced labor camp for practicing Falun Gong

Ms. Zhang Xinyi was an art teacher at the Xiongzhou Town Middle School in Xiong County. She was a kind hearted person. After she started practicing Falun Gong in 1998, Ms. Zhang followed the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance in her teachings. Her students and colleagues spoke highly of her. Her students said that Ms. Zhang never got upset and always smiled, "We liked to be in her class."

After the persecution started, officials from the Bureau of Education helped the Xiong County's 610 Office many times to arrest Ms. Zhang. She was brutally tortured in the Xiong County brainwashing center.

On the evening of November 16, 2006, an agent from the 610 Office broke into Ms. Zhang's house and carried out an illegal search. Ms. Zhang wasn't home at the time. Her husband couldn't stand the pressure from the officials of the Bureau and the 610 Office, and therefore took them to where she was hiding. They arrested Ms. Zhang and sent her to the Baoding Forced Labor Camp. She is currently still in this camp.

On December 11, 2006, the Xiong County Committee and the Xiong County Political and Legal Committee informed all of the government institutions that they had officially fired Ms. Zhang from work and removed her from the party. Her family, under tremendous pressure and deceived by the government lies, told Ms. Zhang that the Bureau of Education had given her a raise, in an attempt to persuade her to give up the practice.

The above are only a few examples of how the the Bureau of Education in Xiong County has participated in the persecution of Falun Gong over the past eight years. The Bureau officials continue to order school officials to persecute teachers and students who practice Falun Gong. They often deliver posters that slander Falun Dafa to schools in order to poison the students and teachers.
