My Experiences of Clarifying the Truth by Sending Text Messages

July 8, 2007 |   By a Falun Dafa disciple from Taizhong, Taiwan

(Clearwisdom.net) I started to edit text messages based on the reported persecution cases from Clearwisdom.net two years ago. Several months later I sent messages again. I sent them to those who participated in the persecution of Falun Dafa disciples. I targeted prisons, forced labor camps, 610 Offices, police departments, police stations, detention centers, brainwashing centers, courts, procuratorates, hospitals, and schools. Those that received the messages included a director, local chiefs, a court director, a chief justice, party secretaries, political commissioners, team leads, policemen, and security staff. After receiving the message, some of them were regretful while others persisted in doing wrong. I'd like to share my experiences over the last two years in hopes of bringing fellow practitioners' attention to these matters. Please point out any improper understanding.

I will share with everyone the following aspects:

I. Edit the message content with compassion:

  1. Use the person's title. I don't use the person's name specifically. Instead I use "director," "chief" or "Party secretary." I want to show them basic respect and remind them of the responsibility of their position.
  2. State the key points clearly. Only 60 words fit in a text message, so it must be stated succinctly. The method I use is to describe the situation. For persecution cases, I tell them that their crimes have been exposed. The description should be brief, just like the headline of a newspaper article.
  3. Review the edited messages after a short while. Normally, after a period of time, I like to read the messages I edited before. You will have a different feeling if you read it after some time has passed. Sometimes you may find you were too excited when you edited the message or you find that you did not get to the point. Through countless corrections and cultivation, my xinxing gradually improved.
  4. Frequently read The Epoch Times. There usually are many great edited materials in the reports and news on China. For example, to close a message I often remind the person that "Good Is Rewarded with Good and Evil Meets with Evil." Once someone asked me, "Where is the karmic retribution?" There was a report in the The Epoch Times entitled "The Heads of 610 Offices Died Suddenly One by One and the CCP Forbid Reporting on Them." I edited a message by using this title and several examples. He did not dispute it, and I believe that he started to think about these examples of karmic retribution.

II. Send the message with compassion:

In the beginning I sent a message to every evil person who possessed a cellphone. I realized one time that this was not the same as turning in homework; it would be fine if I sent all messages. Therefore, if time permits I will send to the same person during the week.

When resending a message, I try not to repeat myself. I tell the person about Sound of Hope Radio and information on quitting the CCP. I tell them that Falun Dafa is good and there is software that can break through the Internet blockade in China. After that I have often received feedback, which indicates that our state of mind state also affects how our messages will be received.

III. Find the attachment from the mind state in receiving the feedback:

In the beginning I expected a lot of feedback. After sending a message I waited for feedback, either intentionally or unintentionally. It seemed that I was satisfied only if I received feedback. Later I realized that there was a loophole in this way of thinking. The purpose of sending a message is to let the recipient know the truth, and I should not focus on the feedback. I eliminated this thought from my mind.

It is also cultivation when facing all kind of feedback. In the beginning I got upset at negative feedback and felt happy when I got positive feedback. For example, one time a person messaged me, "You have a mental disorder...". I was irritated when I read "mental disorder." I did not send the next messages with a peaceful mind. Later I thought that as a Falun Dafa disciple, how could I be moved by the words of ordinary people? I had failed to endure and maintain my xinxing, and was not kind and benevolent. I realized that we should try our best to clarify the truth. If they did not understand we should tell them again. I should not be smug or feel zealous at positive feedback nor should I regard it as my accomplishment. The endeavors of Falun Dafa disciples all around the world affect sentient beings.

IV. Persist in clarifying the truth:

The most important thing is to persist. I remember that I wanted to quit after I sent messages for half a year. First, I never got feedback and I wondered if there was any use in sending messages like this. Second, there are so many tools to clarify the truth and I wanted to try different ones. Later I realized that it was very important to clarify the truth to the evil persons that participated in the persecution of Dafa disciples, and that they were people who were deeply poisoned by the CCP and they were also ignorant sentient beings who directly persecuted Dafa and Dafa practitioners. They were paving themselves a way to hell but they couldn't see it. To let them know the truth not only helps them but also helps fellow practitioners who are being persecuted in China. Besides, sending a text message is convenient. Sometimes the evil person doesn't pick up the phone or listen to the phone. Sending a text message can have an immediate effect. Therefore I decided to take this path!

Here I have a suggestion; there are many ways to clarify the truth. Fellow practitioners may choose a project and focus on it according to their situation and can also support other projects if needed. Since by concentrating one can clarify the truth in a deeper and more refined manner, then the objective can be achieved. Persistence is also important.

When my thoughts were not righteous or I had thoughts that were not on the Fa, I often thought of what Teacher taught in "Teaching the Fa at the 2003 Midwest-U.S. Fa Conference:"

"Don't overlook any of the things that Dafa disciples do. Your every word, every flyer, every keystroke, every telephone call, and every letter is having a huge impact. Beings that have come to understand the facts become mobile media, and they too clarify the facts."

Teacher recognizes what we do. How can we not be encouraged to persist in clarifying the truth?
