Ms. Wang Zanmei in Henan Province, Disabled, in Her 60s, Has Suffered from Severe Persecution

Aug. 7, 2007

(Clearwisdom.net) On July 20th, 1999, Jiang Zemin and the CCP began to widely persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Because Ms. Wang Zanmei, who is disabled and 60 years old, would not give up cultivating Falun Gong, she was harassed many times by the local police and arrested.

At a little past 1 a.m. on August 13, 2001, the Qi County Police Station Director Yang Yumei ordered policemen to put Ms. Wang, who was in her bed sleeping, in a police car. They took her to the police station and put her in a room with several male prisoners, who were only wearing boxers. Ms. Wang wrote about this incident and sent it to different levels of local government. However, whenever she sent more documents to the government, she would be subjected to persecution that was harsher than ever before. She was frequently arrested and detained. On September 14, 2004, she went to the Department of Politics and Law of Kaifeng City. The officials from the 610 Office there tore up her paperwork without looking at it and then told the Qi County Police Station to arrest her. She was subsequently detained for eight days.

Ms. Wang has practiced Falun Gong for about nine years. Before that, she had heart disease and several other health problems. After she began studying the Fa and doing the exercises, all of health problems were cured. She also got to know many principles about being a good person. She was working as a baby-sitter and was able to earn enough money to live by herself. Ms. Wang believed firmly that Falun Gong is good, and thought that it must be that many people in the government had not gotten the facts. On September 27, 2005, she went to the State Security Bureau of Kaifeng City. A section chief there promised that if what she had reported is all true, they would definitely address those issues. On December 6, 2005, police from the Qi County Police Station tricked her into going to the police station. When she got to the gate of the police station, she was arrested by policemen Liu Hongtao and Huang He. They threw her into a police car and sent her to the detention center. She was illegally held there for three days. On December 9 of 2005, she was sent to a forced labor camp.

While doing the physical examination in the forced labor camp, the doctor found that she had heart disease and that she must go to a bigger hospital to do an electrocardiogram. The policemen thus drove her to a hospital to do the physical check-up. The doctor there said that her heart disease was quite severe. But just as they walked out of the hospital, the police said that the electrocardiogram was not very good and they must do another one. When the second electrocardiogram came out, the doctor still said that the heart disease was quite bad and provided a certificate stating as such. But the police wouldn't leave and hassled the doctor for almost an hour. In the end, the police finally got a statement that said the electrocardiogram was normal. In this way, the two police officers put a disabled senior citizen, who has severe heart disease, into a forced labor camp.

Ms. Wang was illegally sentenced to do forced labor for a year and a half. During this time, the guards in the Shibalihe Forced Labor Camp tried to force her to "transform". They kept her in a small, dark room and assigned two prisoners to monitor her. For this long period of time, she was only let out of the room three or four times during the evenings. Head warden Jia Meili and warden Wang Nan instigated monitors to bombard her with anti-Falun Gong propaganda and subject her to sleep deprivation.

Ms. Wang was tortured badly inside the forced labor camp. She had several heart attacks and almost lost her life. Her weight dropped by 20 lbs. She was held there for eight months before they gave her a copy of a sheet about her arrest, which was full of falsified information. At that point, she could no longer file an appeal, which would have been suppressed by the labor camp anyway.
