(Clearwisdom.net) In 2007, the Chinese embassy and consulates in Canada issued a number of slanderous attacks against the NTDTV Chinese New Year Spectacular. Again this year, American government officials and city council members in New York and California received letters from Chinese consulates asking them not to support the NTDTV Chinese New Year Spectacular in any way.

John Baird, the Canadian Minister of Environment, attended the receptions of the Spectacular two years in a row.

Member of Parliament Pierre Poilievre ignored the letter he received from the Chinese embassy. He said Canada is strongly in favor of freedom.

Brian McAdam, a former diplomat with experience and insight into Asia, attended Sunday's Chinese New Year Spectacular at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.

Rosemary Heborn, a retired teacher, had high praise for the show on January 14. She said her friends told her that the Chinese embassy had tried to interfere with the show and she realized the reason after seeing it--the Chinese Communist Party persecutes its own people and the show exposes that persecution. She said that in Canada, the Chinese government has no right to interfere with people's freedom.

John Baird, the Canadian Minister of Environment, came to the show. He also received harassing letters, but he came to the reception of the Spectacular two years in a row.

Member of Parliament Pierre Poilievre ignored the letter he received from the Chinese Embassy. He said the government of Canada has been a strong defender of freedom around the world. It is defending basic human rights in China and around the world, including the rights of Falun Gong practitioners. "That's what our government is doing and we're very proud of that."

Brian McAdam, a former diplomat with experience and insight into Asia, attended Sunday's Chinese New Year Spectacular at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. He said, "They [the CCP] don't want the show to be successful because, again, they are a death cult. That's what they are and they don't want to have people realize there's another way of living."

MacAdam said, "Nazi Germany turned out to be a death cult. The Soviet Union tried the same thing. They tried to destroy what the Russian culture was all about. Unfortunately these tyrants survived for decades, but ultimately the human spirit brings back the true culture of the society. It's marvelous to see it again."

Despite the CCP's efforts through its embassies and consulates to interfere with the show's success each year, the Spectacular continues to grow and thrive.

By the end of its global tour, an expected 650,000 people in over 60 cities will have seen the performances by Divine Performing Arts.
