(Clearwisdom.net) The Divine Performing Arts New York company presented two Chinese New Year Spectacular shows in the Orpheum Theatre on January 23, 2008. Many in the audience were of Chinese heritage. The spectators had high praise for the excellent performances.

When the curtain first opened, the audience was in awe of the scene on stage. When singer Huang Piyu finished her first song, the audience applauded her warmly and asked the host if she could sing one more. She then sang "Be Saved." In "The Power of Awareness," the audience applauded enthusiastically when the spectators drove away the police that were beating the peaceful Falun Gong practitioners.

Audience member from Mongolia: "I was touched deeply."

Polomaa Darjplam from Mongolia was visiting the San Francisco Bay Area and got to see the show. She said, "I liked this show very much and am very glad I got to see it. It was fantastic. If you don't see it [in person], you cannot experience just how good the show is. I thank all the performers. They did a great job."

She said that Mongolians are very hospitable, "Our people open their doors and welcome every visitor. The Mongolian dance and music were exactly right."

A nurse: "'Truth-Compassion-Tolerance' touched my inner heart"

Chazz Bambilla, a nurse from St. Mary's Hospital, praised the show, "Very good. Like its name, 'spectacular.'"

She also said, "'Truth-Compassion-Tolerance' touched my inner heart."

Vietnamese spectators like "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance"

Computer engineer Trung Ngung and his mother applauded with enthusiasm during the show. His mother was especially moved by the performance about peaceful Falun Gong practitioners being beaten. She wiped away tears several times. When the spectators drove away the thugs, she clapped warmly and murmured in Vietnamese.

Trung said he and his mother liked the show very much.

When Trung talked about his impressions, his mother, who only speaks Vietnamese, also wanted to comment. Trung interpreted for her: "My mother likes 'Truth-Compassion-Tolerance.' The story about Falun Gong was very poignant. She has read similar historical stories and these performances seemed familiar. She said it was very good to present them in this way. She was very touched."

Chinese-American: "A good way to learn Chinese history and culture"

Born in the US to Chinese parents, financial councilor Sue Wong brought her daughter, Shanna Lum, and they watched the show together. Sue said, "I liked it a lot. I learned not only about Chinese culture, but also about Chinese history. This is very good not only for children, but for my generation. It is a good way to learn about Chinese culture."
