Nov. 7, 2008 |   By Lin Qiaorong

(Clearwisdom.net) Liu Shangpeng won the award for Most Outstanding from the NTDTV International Chinese Traditional Martial Arts Competition. On November 1, 2008, Liu and his family attended the opening ceremony of the Truth-Compassion-Forbearance International Art Exhibition in Shih-Lin, Taiwan. Liu's father said after seeing the exhibition that he believed the Chinese Communist Party would fall apart because of its persecution of Falun Gong.

Liu won the championship in the young men's North Fist Group in the Asia-Pacific preliminary. His father, encouraged by Liu's coach, went to the North American preliminary with him. He thanked NTDTV for holding the competition. Liu not only won an award but also widened his horizons. Because of this opportunity, father and son got to strive for the same goal.

Liu's father is a Christian. He knows a little about Falun Gong and used to tell his friends that Falun Gong would cause the CCP to collapse. However, since he came back from the competition in the US, he believes that the CCP will disintegrate automatically because it persecutes Truth-Compassion-Forbearance. He stressed that, on his way to New York, the staff of NTDTV took good care of him, and they all tried to do what was best for the activity. Seeing the devotion of these volunteers, who were also Falun Gong practitioners, really moved him.

Before the opening ceremony of the exhibition, over 100 members of the Divine Land Marching Band played stirring music, and many beautiful celestial maidens gave out paper lotus flowers and flyers to the audience members. Liu's father said that he could feel the enthusiasm coming from the bottom of the practitioners' hearts and he thought they had a dignified belief.

Liu is still in high school and he had never seen such paintings before. The first painting uncovered was "An Orphan's Tear." The CCP tortured the little girl's parents to death because they were Falun Gong followers. The little girl, holding her parents' ashes, did not know what was going to happen. Liu's father asked his son whether he was touched by the painting and he said that he was.

Liu's father said they were both moved by that painting. He was pleased to be invited to a Falun Gong activity for the first time so he could get to know Falun Gong better.

The art exhibition was held in Shih-lin Citizen Hall, a historical building from Japanese colonial times. The rarefied atmosphere of the building makes it a top choice for art exhibitions. Kuo Ya-tsun, representative of the Shih-lin District, and Wang Fu-Ching, director of Citizen Hall, both said they were glad to be able to provide space for the exhibition.

Wang said he saw a strong cohesiveness among the Falun Gong practitioners. Every practitioner did his or her best to make the activity successful, and they worked together harmoniously. Many people came to the exhibition, and Wang praised the exhibition's success.

A Chinese musical performance and a simple reception marked the opening ceremony. So that more could people learn about the exhibition, the host arranged for a parade in the Shil-Lin district. The Falun Dafa Divine Land Marching Band, the NTDTV Flag Team, the children's Waist Drum Team, and the celestial maidens all participated. Passersby and residents were surprised and glad to see the parade. Some took the paper lotus flowers and read aloud the words on the flowers, "Falun Dafa is good." Some read the flyers carefully, and others took pictures.
