The Persecution of Ms. Shan Shuli from Gaomi

Dec. 3, 2008

(Clearwisdom.net) On the morning of May 22, 2008, four or five officers from Beidawangzhuang Police Station arrived at the home of Ms. Shan Shuli. Led by Officer Wang Jun, they broke into the home and stole her satellite dish, a VCD player, an MP3 player, a picture of the founder of Falun Dafa, and Falun Dafa books and materials. They took Ms. Shan to the police station.

That same afternoon, her family went to the police station and demanded her unconditional release. They waited until midnight with no results. Only later did they find out that she had already been taken to a detention center.

It is not wrong to believe in Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance, so she refused to memorize the prison rules, refused to work for the prison, and refused all of their unreasonable demands. The guards restrained both Shan Shuli and another practitioner, Du Hongmei, in an iron chair with chains and handcuffs. In the daytime, the guards moved them in their iron chairs outside, then moved them back into a room at night, regardless of the hot sun or pouring rain.

Two days after Shan Shuli was bound to the iron chair, her menstrual period began. Only after she asked many times did the guard release her twice. She had to eat, sleep, and toilet while still in the iron chair, and she could not do those things without other people's help. In order to reduce the burden on others, she only ate two and half rolls in two weeks. At noon of the 14th day, detention center officials interrogated her again. She fainted out of weakness. When the prison doctor took her blood pressure, it registered very high. Even though she was in such terrible condition, the guards still did not release her. They only stopped forcing her to sit in the iron chair, but they still restrained her hands and feet with an iron chain and handcuffs, keeping her locked up 24 hours a day. She had to sleep in a twisted position. Once when she was using the toilet, she could not raise herself due to the chain and handcuffs and her delicate health, and she lost balance and fell on the floor of the restroom.

Another time a guard wanted to take her picture and her fingerprints. She refused to cooperate. Guard Qiao came with two criminal inmates as his assistants. They pulled Ms. Shan Shuli's hair to take her picture and get her fingerprints. She still refused to cooperate. Guard Tan then handcuffed her and another practitioner, Cao Guilan to a concrete pole in the yard for four to five hours, from 11:30 a.m. until 4:00 or 5:00 p.m., without giving them any food or water. One goodhearted person gave them some water to drink and was sworn at by the guards.

After she had been imprisoned and abused like this for one month and four days, the guards decided to send her to a forced labor camp for a term of one year. She was taken to Wangcun Forced Labor Camp. A pre-admission physical examination revealed that she had high blood pressure, so the camp officials refused to take her. Guards took her back to the Gaomi detention center but kept her illegally detained. The next day her family came to ask for her release, and, after extorting 410 yuan from them, the police reluctantly released her.
