Russia: Raising Awareness about Falun Gong in Omsk

Feb. 15, 2008

(Clearwisdom.net) Situated between Ekaterinburg and Novosibirsk, the city of Omsk is the capital of the major agricultural state of the same name in southwestern Siberia.

On the morning of January 30th, 2008, Falun Gong practitioners from Irkutsk and Tomsk went to the Chinese market in Omsk with two large bags of leaflets and distributed them to Chinese people in the market in the run up to the Lunar New Year. Nearly 80 to 90 percent of the Chinese people there were pleased to accept the information, including a special issue of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and other materials about Falun Gong. The informational CDs were so popular that none of them were left.

After that, the practitioners rented a car and drove to a farmland district to give out truth-clarification materials to the Chinese who grew vegetables there. As it was winter and not the right time for Chinese farmers to be growing vegetables, the practitioners left the materials with the security guards so that the farmers could get them after returning from their Lunar New Year holidays. A chauffeur told the practitioners that there were more Chinese people working at a nearby motor repair shop, so the practitioners took some truth-clarification material there.

On the morning of February 1st, they visited various major libraries and donated several copies of Zhuan Falun , the "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party", and the "Report into Allegations of Organ Harvesting of Falun Gong Practitioners in China." Among the libraries in Omsk that received Dafa publications and truth-clarification material were the Pushkin Library, which is the biggest library in Omsk State, the Omsk Municipal Library and some high school libraries.

During the process of distributing materials, the practitioners met a group of dentists at a nearby dental clinic and all of them received a Russian version of the Epoch Times, a Falun Gong flyer and the "Report into Allegations of Organ Harvesting of Falun Gong Practitioners in China."

On their way home in the evening, the practitioners distributed Russian Falun Gong flyers and other truth-clarification materials to passengers in every carriage on the train. In the meantime, they also sent forth righteous thoughts to help these passengers as they read the materials, so they would be open minded and clearly understand the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution.
