In January 2008, seven more Falun Gong practitioners in China were verified to have died as a result of persecution and torture. In the name of preparing for the Olympics, the Communist regime has intensified the persecution.

On February 27, 2008, the 610 Office in Dehui City, Jilin Province, the police arrested more than ten Falun Gong practitioners and illegally detained them in Dehui City Detention Center.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Mei, from Jinzhou City, was arrested on October 4, 2007 for distributing truth-clarification materials and was illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor. She is imprisoned at Masanjia Labor Camp in Shenyang City. The warden has prohibited her family from visiting her because she refuses to renounce Falun Gong.

Source from inside the police revealed that Jilin Province police was given secrete orders to start a new round of persecution of Falun Gong, using the 2008 Olympics as an excuse.

Mr. Zhang Dongxing, a Falun Gong practitioner from Dulangkou Town, Chiping County, Shandong Province, was arrested at his home on December 16, 2007. He is held in the 2nd Forced Labor Camp of Shandong Province.

Mr. Wang was arrested on February 13, 2008 and taken to the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp where he was detained in Xinsheng (Brainwashing) Ward. After going on a hunger strike and being force-fed, Mr Wang died on February 29, 2008. After a delay, Mr Wang's family was told that he committed suicide by hitting his head against a heater. When the family was allowed to see his body, they saw injuries apart from his head and incompatible with the claimed cause of death. They were denied the right to take home his body or to talk to his guards at the time of his death. The family attempted to file a lawsuit in a local court to investigate the case, but were denied.

Mr Qi Wei was arrested in February 2008 and detained without due process. The police refuse to inform his family of his condition or location.

Since February 27, 2008, Dehui police have arrested more than 30 practitioners and harrassed many others in the area. There is no known local cause and practitioners suspect a pattern of mass arrests preceding the Olympics.

Mar. 14

According information from an internal meeting of CCP officials, the police will follow, monitor and arrest Falun Gong practitioners on a larger scale during the period leading up to the Olympic Games.

Mar. 15

Beijing police have been raiding businesses that employ Falun Gong practitioners since January 2008. How can this improve China's image before the Olympics?

On January 28, 2008, practitioner Mr. Zhai Mouchen was arrested. He was subsequently tortured and sentenced to one year forced labor. His family is left in difficult circumstances after years of persecution.
