1. [Beijing] Ms. Bai Shaohua Possibly Hospitalized; Mr. Yang Hui at Forced Labor Dispatching Center
Ms. Bai Shaohua was taken into custody on February 20, 2008. Her mother and her attorney had demanded to meet with her several times, but they were not successful. According to police sources, Ms. Bai's physical condition deteriorated, and she has been hospitalized.
Mr. Yang Hui is very weak. It is possible that he was taken to the forced labor dispatching center on March 13, 2008. Sources said that he had been sentenced to two and a half years of forced labor.
2. [Shifang City, Sichuan Province] Additional Information on Practitioners Taken into Custody in October 2007
On October 11 and 12, 2007, the Domestic Security Division of the Shifang City Police Department and the Chengdong Police Station took into custody 19 local practitioners. Mr. Yu Shoujin was taken to the Nanmusi Forced Labor to serve a one-year term. Ms. Wang Zhongqiong and Ms. Chen Ru are being held at the Deyang and Guanghan Detention Centers respectively. They face unlawful prison terms.
On October 8, 2007, practitioner Ms. Gong Xingcan, who is Ms. Wang Zhongqiong's daughter, was brought back from the Nanmusi Forced Labor Camp by officials of the Postal Services Department, which is where she worked. However, her family was not notified of this.

Officials at Heizuizi Women's Labor Camp in Changchun City have used the upcoming Beijing Olympics as an opportunity to escalate the persecution. They force practitioners to read Buddhist books and propaganda of the Communist Party. They try everything they can to coerce practitioners to "transform" and write denunciation statements.
5. [Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Dan's Physical Condition Raises Concern
Ms. Liu Dan, a practitioner being held in the No. 10 Ward of Heilongjiang Women's Prison, has been on a hunger strike for over a year. Her physical condition has deteriorated. Her face, legs, and feet are swollen. She also suffers from headaches.

7. [Dandong City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Tang Yiqing and His Wife Ms. Zhao Hong'e Unlawfully Sentenced to Nine and Eight Years in Prison Respectively
Mr. Tang Yiqing and Ms. Zhao Hong'e were taken into custody on the morning of September 25, 2007. They were later taken to the Dandong City Detention Center.
On December 13, 2007, the Zhenxing District Court put Mr. Tang and Ms. Zhao on trial without notifying their family. Ms. Zhao passed out due to heart problems in the court room.
Recently, the Zhenxing District Court held a secret trial again. Mr. Tang was sentenced to nine years in prison; Ms. Zhao, eight years in prison. Mr. Tang and Ms. Zhao have appealed their cases to the higher court.

On the morning of February 29, 2008, police officers at the No. 850 Farm searched Mr. Liu Dequan's home and took a computer. The police failed to find anything they were looking for in it and returned the computer. Mr. Liu has been forced to leave town and has nowhere to stay.

Practitioner Ms. Sun Rencui, 65, is a retired cadre. On March 4, she was taken to the Jiang'an District Police Department by security guards while clarifying the truth in a supermarket. The following day, officers in the Yongqing Street Police Station placed her under ten days detention and took her to the Wuhan City No. 1 Detention Center. At 8:30 a.m. on March 12, 2008, Ms. Wang Guiqin, 57, was taken into custody at her home by officers with the Pingfang Police Station in Harbin City. She was taken to the Harbin No. 2 Detention Center (also known as the Yaziquan Detention Center).

On the morning of March 18, 2008, officers from the Jin'eshan Police Station in Yueyanglou District took Ms. Sun Binghua into custody at work. In the afternoon, officers led by Xie Min (gender unknown), deputy director of the Jin'eshan Police Station, searched Ms. Sun's home. The officers took a computer, a printer, and a computer desk.

Mr. Li Guochen, in his 30s, is a practitioner in the Jingyuetan Economic and Technological Development Zone in Changchun City, Jilin Province. He was taken into custody while driving a taxi van on his way to the No. 7 Weixing Division on the evening of March 17, 2008.
16. [Tumen City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Yinglan and Five Other Practitioners Taken into Custody
Ms. Zhang Yinglan, in her 60s, clarified the truth to an elementary school student. The student told her mother, and the mother took her to the Tumen Police Department to report it to the police. At 10:00 p.m. on March 9, 2008, officers from the Tumen City Domestic Security Division and those from the Shixian Police Department broke into Ms. Zhang's home to take her into custody.
On March 10, Ms. Zhao Yanping clarified the truth while taking care of her hospitalized husband. She was taken into custody. The police searched her home. Her husband remains bedridden in the hospital.
On March 10, practitioners Ms. Gong and Ms. Wang (in her 70s) were turned in to the authorities while clarifying the truth. The Shixian police took them into custody.
Practitioner Ms. Zhou Guiling was taken into custody while clarifying the truth on March 10, 2008.
Practitioner Mr. Zhang Qingjun, in his 50s, was taken from his home on March 12.
All six practitioners are being held at the Hou'anshan Detention Center in Tumen City.

At 8:00 p.m. on March 9, 2008, a practitioner (gender unknown) in Baijialing Village, Changcheng Town, Zhucheng City, was taken into custody by officers from the Changcheng Town Police Station. The officers searched the practitioner's home and took some materials. The police have rejected several release requests from the practitioner's family.

The officers searched her home, took a computer, two printers, five portraits of the founder of Falun Gong, several copies of Falun Dafa books, a set of Falun Gong exercises tape cassettes, and some truth clarification materials. The officers tried to take Ms. Xiu with them, but they were thwarted.

31. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Pan Mingsheng Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison
Mr. Pan Mingsheng's family has been denied a meeting with him since he was unlawfully taken into custody on September 27, 2008. On the evening of March 14, 2008 (Friday), his family received a phone call. The caller said Mr. Pan was to be tried, and his family should attend the hearing. However, before his family could find out when and where the trial was to be held, the caller hung up. The next day, Mr. Pan's family went to the Maonan District Court to find out more information, but they were told that Saturday was a day off. They went to the Maoming City Intermediate Court and got the same answer. On Monday March 17, 2008, when his family went to the Maonan District Court again, they were told that Mr. Pan Mingsheng had been sentenced to eight years in prison.

They told the family that Mr. Qu was to be released on March 11 as scheduled. When his family went to ask to see him again on March 7, the detention center officials claimed that Mr. Qu had been taken to the forced labor camp. When his family went to the forced labor camp, labor camp officials lied and said that he was not there. Mr. Qu's family did not get to see him after running around the whole day.

The officers searched Ms. Liao's home. It is likely that she is being held at the Wangxiangtai Resort Brainwashing Center in the Jiangbei area.

Ms. Gao Yumei, around 46 years old, is a practitioner who lives in the Majiawan area in Liuyang City. On March 7, 2008, she was taken into custody on the grounds that she wrote "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance is great" on the door of her own home. She is being held at the Baxianqiao Detention Center. In addition, another practitioner, Ms. Tao, was recently taken into custody.

On the evening of March 13, 2008, Mr. Li Shuanghai and Mr. Li Baozhong in the Kuloutai area in Beizhen City did not return after going out to distribute truth clarification materials. The next day several police officers searched their homes. The officers claimed that they received reports and took the two practitioners into custody. Mr. Li Shuanghai and Mr. Li Baozhong are being held at the Beizhen Detention Center.
46. [Changji City, Xinjiang Autonomous Region] Practitioner Mr. Cao Mingrui Sentenced to Three Years in Prison
Mr. Cao Mingrui, in his 50s, has been held at a local detention center since the end of August 2007. He was later unlawfully sentenced to three years in prison. He and his family are planning to appeal his case. Mr. Cao was brutally beaten by domestic security officers while in custody. The police tried to extract the source of Falun Dafa materials from him. When the police searched his home at the end of August 2007, they confiscated his son's personal computer.

Ms. Tang Guolan, around 70 years old, was taken into custody by police officers while she was clarifying the truth on March 4, 2008. She was later taken to the county detention center. She remains in custody.

On the morning of March 18, three residential police officers from the Hada Town Police Station arrived at Xinyi Village in a car. They harassed practitioners who were on file at their homes on the pretense of "understanding their recent thoughts."

On the afternoon of March 10, 2008, officers in Mingshan County, Ya'an City took into custody Mr. Li Wenfu and his mother, Ms. Zhang Kangying, in Guihua Village, Fengming Township, Ya'an City. The officers took Falun Dafa books, DVDs, and personal items worth over 10,000 yuan. Ms. Zhang Kangying was released at around 11:00 p.m. the same night.
At 11:53 p.m. on March 10, Gou Yongqiong (gender unknown), head of the the Mingshan County Domestic Security Division, and officers from the Mingshan County Police Department besieged practitioner Ms. Yang Zhaoxia's home in Yongxing Town. The officers smashed the exterior steel door and took Falun Dafa books, DVDs, an MP3 player, truth clarification materials, paper currency with written truth clarification content, cellular phones, and a satellite dish. Ms. Yang Zhaoxia was taken to the Mingshan Detention Center.
In addition, four other practitioners' homes were searched in Yongxing Town. Their satellite dishes were confiscated.

At 6:30 p.m. on March 17, officers in the Xinbin County took into custody Ms. Guo Qingfeng (younger sister of Ms. Guo Qinglan) and her 20-year-old son, Mr. Zhang Dong, living in Bianwai Village, Yushu Township, Yongling Town. The police took two bags of materials and then took Ms. Guo and her son to the Xinbin Detention Center.

Officers in the Benxi County Police Department unlawfully took practitioners into custody while the National Congress and the National Political Consultative Conference were in session in Beijing in March 2008. It has been confirmed that practitioner Mr. Tang Yu, an employee at the match factory in Benxi County, was beaten and taken into custody at work on the morning of March 11. The police searched his home and confiscated all Falun Dafa books, a DVD burner, and over 2,000 yuan in cash. Mr. Tang is being held at the Xiaoshihuangshan Detention Center in Benxi County, Liaoning Province.

On March 11, practitioners Mr. Wei Haihe, his wife, Ms. Yin Shuqin, and their daughter in Mancheng County, Baoding City, were taken from their home to the Chengguan Police Station by the Domestic Security Division of the Mancheng County Police Station. Two other practitioners, Ms. Yin Baoxian and Mr. Yin Baoyin, were taken into custody at the same time.
63. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wu Taken into Custody During the National Congress and the National Political Consultative Conference in Beijing
According to police sources, a female practitioner with the last name of Wu was taken into custody by officers in Haiborile Town, Qianguo County, Songyuan City, in March 2008 while the National Congress and National Political Consultative Conference were in session in Beijing. The officers confiscated numerous DVDs and a copy of Zhuan Falun. Ms. Wu's whereabouts remain unknown.
64. [Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Liu Sufen and Three Other Practitioners Taken into Custody; Some Beaten by Police
On the morning of March 6, 2008, Ms. Jiang Xianfeng, Ms. Wu Xiulan, Ms. Liu Sufen, and Ms. Zhu Qinghua were unlawfully taken into custody, and their homes were searched. One officer punched Ms. Jiang Xianfeng. She fell to the ground and passed out. She regained consciousness after the officers poured cold water on her head. Ms. Liu Sufen was also beaten. At 11:00 p.m. the same night, the police took the four practitioners to the Panzhihua City Detention Center, where physicians refused to admit Ms. Jiang Xianfeng on the grounds that she could die at any moment. Ms. Jiang was sent home by the police. Ms. Liu, Ms. Wu, and Ms. Zhu remain in custody at the detention center.
65. [Huaihua City, Hunan Province] Practitioner Mr. Liao Kaiyun Unlawfully Taken into Custody
At around 9:00 a.m. on March 16, Mr. Liao Kaiyun was taken into custody at his home in Anjiang Town, Huaihua City. Mr. Liao had been forced to leave town after police received reports that he distributed truth clarification materials in the first half of 2007. Around Chinese New Year's Day (February 7, 2008), he returned home. He is now in police custody.
66. [Yibin City, Sichuan Province] Practitioners Ms. Peng Zezhen and Mr. Yuan Guangli Taken into Custody
On the morning of March 12, 2008, Ms. Peng Zezhen and Mr. Yuan Guangli in Cuiping District, Yibin City, were taken into custody for clarifying the truth. They are being held at the Da'ye Detention Center in Yibin City.
67. [Anshun City, Guizhou Province] Mr. Wei Jingtao Held in Custody for Half a Year
Mr. Wei Jingtao, in his 60s, had been unlawfully sentenced to forced labor besides being taken into custody numerous times. In September 2007, he was secretly taken to the Anshun City No. 1 Detention Center. He has been held there for half a year. Further information is not available.
