Direct Experience of Persecution in Shanxi Province - a Statement from Ms. Zhou Yunhua

April 28, 2008

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Zhou Yunhua is a Falun Gong practitioner from Fenxi County, Shanxi Province. In August 2006, officers from the Gongyu Township Police Station arrested her for distributing truth-clarification materials. Ms. Zhou was detained at the Pu County Detention Center and then imprisoned at the Xindian Women's Forced Labor Camp in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province in November 2006. She was released in February 2008. The following is her statement.

My name is Zhou Yunhua. On August 7, 2006, a fellow practitioner and I went to distribute truth-clarification materials in Beixingzhuang, Pu County. Someone reported us to the police. The officers from the Gongyu Township Police Station arrested us. After lunch, they took us to the Kecheng Township Police Station. The officers there beat us for not cooperating with them when they took photos. After that, we were detained at the Pu County Detention Center.

Officer Chen (male) interrogated me. He asked me where I got the materials. I replied, "I picked them up by chance." He said that was nonsense and asked again. I kept silent, so he slapped my face twice and left. Another two officers then came in. One interrogated me while the other took notes. After the interrogation, we were taken to the detention center. The administrative authorities in the detention center imprisoned us for 15 days.

Fifteen days later, my fellow practitioner was released on bail after her family paid extortion money. My family was poor and had no money, so I was sentenced to forced labor and was kept in the detention center.

Female inmates beat me and forced me to recite the prison regulations daily. Around September 20, 2006, inmate Yuanyuan (male) woke me up. He told me to sign a document that said I could go home. I signed the document as soon as I heard the words "go home". After he left, the female inmates told me that I was sentenced to forced labor. I had been deceived. On November 1, 2006, after I had been detained for two months, I was taken to the Xindian Women's Forced Labor Camp in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province.

In the forced labor camp, I met a "transformed" practitioner, but I did not know that she had been "transformed" when we first met. I told her that we should expose the evil of the CCP, so she turned me in. The guard ordered two drug user inmates to search me, and to strip off my clothing and shoes. They stole my cash and watch and forced me to stand for two days and nights without sleep. I could not take it anymore and wrote a guarantee statement. Guard Liu Zhongmei (female) then let me rest for an afternoon. I was then denied a normal rest schedule and not allow to sleep until I wrote a repentance statement and read it before other practitioners on December 5, 2006.

One evening in April 2007, a guard ordered me to write my understanding after a "lecture." I wrote it but did not follow his view, so I was not allowed to sleep at night. On another occasion, guard Liu Zhongmei ordered me to write down my understanding. I did not follow her points either. Liu reprimanded me while I kept silent. I exposed their dirty tricks to other jailed practitioners. They encouraged me to expose them further by writing to the center's director and supervisor. I wrote many times, but it only made the situation worse.

On January 10, 2008, I was released. I had to obey their orders and let them take my picture before I left. The 610 Office agent, Shui Wang (male) from the Dianping Township Police Department, Fenxi County, tracked me and my family throughout the procedure. After I came home, I heard that they extorted 500 yuan from my family.
